i want to resize my hdd. when i do it with the disk mgt took in win 7 it puts the free space at the end of the drive. is there a way to put the frree partition in front?

Create 2 partitions. Delete the first one. Hope you know what you're doing! If it maps the remaining partition to the first MBR entry, you won't be able map the free space at the beginning later. Depends on the partition software. Try before you commit!

i ended up using acronis partition manager. there wasnt an os on the drive so i wasnt worried about windows not booting. i wanted to put the hdd in another machine and install myth (the hdd was my data drive). it ended up working out great.
