Galaxy Microsystems, a leading manufacturer and worldwide supplier of NVIDIA based graphics solutions, announced today the world’s fastest GTX 580, the Galaxy GeForce® GTX 580 graphics card with the world’s fastest DirectX 11 GPU.

“If you want to rip through new blockbuster games like Call of Duty®: Black Ops or Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X.® 2 you need the world’s fastest GPU. The new Galaxy GeForce GTX 580 is calling your name.” said Ric Lewis, US Sales, Galaxy.

Well that's certainly above rumored schedules, hmm.

Now lets see if Charlie is right (lol) about AMD not making this month's launch.

If you want to rip through new blockbuster games like GAME NAME 1 or GAME NAME 2 you need the world’s fastest GPU. The new COMPANY NAME GeForce CARD NAME is calling your name.” said SALES REP, US Sales, COMPANY NAME

i think every company uses this same proforma!

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm not upgrading from my gtx260 216 until I find a good game I like playing that really needs more than that.

It's kinda funny... nVidia brake-checked AMD at the starting line :)

nVidia: "We're gonna be late"
AMD: "We'll hold off on release since nVidia is gonna be late"
nVidia: "Suckers! Release the hounds!"

Oy i just can not afford to pony up 400$ for any video card, 250 for my 6870 was my max, though being a long time nvidia fanboy and even a nvidia stockholder, just seem too little too late, ati currently has a huge selling point to multi monitor users (eyefinity) and they'll be releasing their new card shortly that will more then likely wipe the floor with this card at the same price point, its just disappointing to see my company go from top dog to picking up table scraps.

If you want to rip through new blockbuster games like HardOCP or Hypothermia you need the world’s fastest GPU. The new Steve Lynch GeForce 69 is calling your name.” said Kyle Bennett, US Sales, LynchCo

Yeah, I think you're absolutely right! :D

Personally I'm waiting for a current generation bottom-of-the-line card to replace the Geforce 210 in my Media Center PC. The 210 can handle any media task I throw at it but fast paced Hulu movement can get a little choppy sometimes.

I'm fairly sure my XFX 5870 will "rip through" Call of Duty : BlackOps just fine.... Marketing BS...

not much being said here. I own a gtx480 waiting on amd's release to pull the trigger on whats next... or just get another 480... for 300... no sure

Not really, the GTX 580 still isn't the fastest DX11 GPU, the 5970 still performs faster than the GTX 580 in some games.

The 5970 has two GPUs...

I'm so sick of hearing this. I'm sorry someone introduced a multicore solution to the equation. God forbid. I take it that you're still running a Pentium IV, because an i7 is cheating? Who cares if it's a 2-in-1. It's better. End of story.

Aren't all GPUs multi core? Plus an i7 is cheating. Damned hyperthreading! Makes other quads look crapper with pretend cores!!

For all you Antec Nine Hundred Two guys... Will this card or specifically a EVGA 580 Superclock fit in that case?

Cards seem huge and I was just wondering how big of a case is needed.

not familiar with Antec Nine Hundred Two but I have an Antec Nine Hundred and I cannot imagine anything that WON'T fit in it. It's a freaking huge case depth-wise.

research has found that 580's are 10.5" and the case will allow a 10.6" card

Yes it does. Look at the wording though. The GeForce GTX 580 is the world's fastest GPU. This is true. That doesn't mean that it's on the fastest video card. The Radeon HD 5970 is faster in some cases so I'd say the title of world's fastest video card isn't something they can claim with the GTX 580.

All GPUs are technically "multicore." The Radeon HD 5970 is a dual GPU solution. As for that making a difference, I'm not sure it does. I think people get too bent out of shape about cards using more than one GPU vs. cards that don't. Faster is faster and I don't care how they got there so long as the drawbacks aren't prohibitive and I can live with them. Many will argue that dual GPU cards suck for one reason or another, but the merits of such arguments on either side are highly debatable.

Correct.
