Is there a site that categorizes free/OS software?

I was skimming through the freeware thread real quick, and I started thinking, it would be nice to have a site where you can search or browse through a large repository of free and open source software. For example if you are looking for an image manipulation program, you go in that category or do a search. Think of it as a classified ad site but for free software. Anyone could submit entries to it, though it would need to have some kind of moderation and rating system as well. If a software is no longer free, it is promptly removed from the list.

Does such a site exist, if not, think it would pickup? If none exists, I'm thinking of maybe making one. (like I don't have enough projects already LOL)

sourceforge.net, osalt.com, etc. I don't mean to bash or anything but a lot of the threads you start can be answered by doing a quick search on Google.

filehippo.com?
use the filters to remove shareware/trials

LOL have you ever tried to search for something on google, zdnet, cnet etc?

If you don't get hit with spyware, you'll probably install a "free" program that only does what it's suppose to do if you pay for it. Searching for software can be a real pita, that's what gave me the idea. A site that lists truely free software only. None of this "Free version only does this, but if you pay it can also do this" crap.
