I just got back from verizon and after doing a side by side comparison, between the X and the Inc, and the X seemed about 35% slower in most functions such as opening a web browser or starting a game...can any one confirm this?

The incredible held the speed crown on several benches last time I checked few weeks ago. Every time I messed with one instore it felt a bit quicker then the rest of the android phones.

I always try and have them rebooted before playing with them. The masses of people fucking with them seriously jack the phones up.

Benches don't mean much. My Droid OC'd gets about 1500 in quadrant which is faster than anything else on the market stock. But with its (now) measly 256 MBs RAM, it slows down pretty quick when I have a few apps running. Fortunately, I found just sweet app in the market called "Swapper 2" that lets me use my SD card as RAM (pretty much a page file) and it has made a significant difference in multitasking and responsiveness/speed.

This. There's no telling what people have put on that phone and what services are running on it as a result of it. I'm sure if you had the same tweaks and software on it as your Inc, it'd be just as fast.

If you were impressed with a demo unit of the incredible, you should see what you can do with it once you've rooted it.

remove the bloatware, load a custom ROM (read OS), and kernel

the dev's ofver at XDA and squeezed every ounce of speed and battery life out of this powerhouse, and it keeps getting better.

i tried a fascinate and it was OK, but i had to go back to the DInc.

the X is a great device too, the only downside to an X is that the development community has had its hands tied by moto, so its going to take a little longer to get out of verizons straight jacket. but they will.

VIVA LA ANDROID!

Yeah - but can it make the Kessel Run in under twelve parsecs?

I had the Inc and Fascinate for about 3 weeks together. IMO, the only thing about the Fascinate that's superior is its screen. Returned it just before the 30 day trial ended. I'm very pleased with the Inc and agree with teksu about rooting/de-bloatwaring it. Makes a very good phone even better.

She's fast enough for you, old man. ;)

I know this is a bit late, but i think this is ludicrous... droid x doesn't lag at all. you can root and load custom rom on droid x to make it super fast also. check benchmarks on both d'inc and d'x, you'll see which is the winner ;) also, see which has better battery in reviews... dx win's in both --no contest.

Thanks everyone for your input. I just exchanged my Incredible for a X and am learning to love it quickly. To lay this thread to rest, i will say my question is now answered...the X is NOT slower than the incredible. ;)

Yeah, check this out:

And still there's some lag here and there (especially when doing the zoom out thing on Launcher Pro on the homescreen when I have all my widgets up).
