According to the company’s CEO, Netflix's streaming video business is doing so well that he now considers it a “streaming company which also offers DVDs.”

We are very proud to announce that by every measure we are now a streaming company, which also offers DVDs-by-mail," Hastings said in the written release. "DVD-by-mail shipments are still growing, but streaming for us is much larger and growing much faster."

Hmmmm.. I dont think so. When I have watched almost all "Quality content" via instant Q and have to sift threw 20 "Murder she wrote" selections I call that a failure.

More content Netflix! Oh and add more HD content. Spend some $!

My tv downstairs does not have a verizon box or OTA access. My boys watch solely Netflix streamed through their Wii. We watch maybe 1 or 2 DVDs a month.

I have to admit in the last 3-4 months, their streaming quality has improved greatly for me. Hulu has also made major improvements as well. Maybe they both opened new data centers in TX?

Your a streaming company huh? When am I gonna get that stream only service?

yeah thats what i thought.

WTF I bet only 10% of their collection is streamable. Everything good is on DVD still.

They do need to work with their providers on getting more quality streaming content.

Let me know when it's time to reactivate my subscription. I want good movies on HD streaming.
My Netflix has been on hold for 1.5 years.

I'm 90% stream, and 10% DVD's. I even bring my laptop to work which allows me during my lunch hour to stream.

Personally, I am happy with Netflix. I think they are on the right track and doing what they can to deliver content and make a consumer stay with them. Honestly, they are really the only people in the entertainment business I like right now.

I am about 3% streaming, 95% BluRay, 2% DVD...

The quality of some of the streaming stuff just sucks. It's great for standup though.

75% DVD, 25% streaming for me. selection is too limited on the streaming, and too much is really poor quality. I really hate it when I find a nice IMAX or similar DVD available for streaming, and it's in standard definition letterbox format, that looks worse than an analog channel on cable.

As for the HD streaming, too many bandwidth problems during prime time (Friday/Saturday evenings). Nothing like trying to watch a movie and half way through it starts pausing every 2-3 minutes.

I mostly stream TV shows and movies that I've missed over the years. Get a new BluRay sent every week or two.

Their steaming quality does keep getting better and better. I've never had a movie pause once started due to buffering. Their HD streaming is top notch some of the standard def stuff is meh, but I do both streaming and DVDs by mail. Awesome service for the price.

I very much disagree
Yes they may stream more content than they send via DVD at this time
But the quality/quantity of the streaming selection is so limited
I tried to stream a movie last night for my kids from the children and family section, after pages and pages of TV series, there were no great selections of actual movies to select from.

As of right now, they are a movie rental company that does streaming to me. I get blu-rays a couple times a week from them. I do however stream most of my TV shows from them.

Netflix is a streaming company with a limited library, and what they did do well (ship DVD's), they have farked up by agreeing to 28 day waiting periods.

I canceled.

Someone is trying to polish a turd here.

I have only gotten 4 DVDs since I started service with them, and Stream several shows or movies daily..

I would agree with this assessment. Streaming FTW.

I wish mine would. Most tv episodes I watch can't be similar a bit rate to a 400mb stream rip. It looks so bad in comparison.

I would agree that their only future is streaming... but they had better get their shit together. They keep signing exclusive contracts on new releases.... so we can't get the DVD's for 3 months after the fact.

Where is all the "new" streaming content they were promised in exchange for this? Its still 70,80's movies... not a great catalog imo.

maybe he is eying the USPS and their constant raises in the fares. He is probably trying to stream everything..surely they make more money that way.

anybody know what kind of pipe netflix has to be able to stream all this content? what about hulu, etc?

Streaming is exactly why I signed up for Netflix. I just wish they had more of a selection for streaming. Right now, what they have is quite anemic.

I still watch a couple things each weekend, but I also have disks coming in the mail once a week.

It's why that local video store down the street just closed.

Loaded the direct strming link with no disc, on the Wii last night,
and I love it.

i'm sure it will even get better over time.

If they're a streaming company, they might want to improve their uptime. Their website and streaming service has been down for most of the day now.

I still get a lot of things on dvd. However, they really beefed up their anime streaming via funimation, so that took a good bit off my queue.

still, most of the obscure stuff i want is till dvd only.

In other news today, Netflix appears to be a victim of its success. Netflix website collapsed under the success of their streaming service and has been doen for several hours.
