Is Apple the only company that makes a glass front monitor?? We are looking for a monitor that is easy for cleaning that we can display in a public place, but don't want to pay "Apple Tax" if we don't have to.

Thanks.

There are no glossy IPS monitors other than the Apple. If you want to go TN, there are plenty of glossy monitors.

He's talking about glass, not glossy (two different things).

You may want to look into Large Format Displays. They are rarely discussed here, but they are like a cross between monitors and TVs, and are meant for display to the general public (you would see these in an airport, for example) and are probably exactly what you're looking for. With a brief google search on "large format display glass", it appears that they probably often come with glass fronts so that custodial staff don't screw them up. I don't have any input on what is good or bad in that field of displays, though.

Most regular TVs have special coatings (including the ones with glass fronts) that will not survive harsh cleaning agents. You should definitely look into commercial displays as suggested by evilsofa.

Or just look at a case of some sort. Remember that is all that a glass front is anyhow. The regular LCD panel is still behind it, just with no AG/AR coating or anything. So you want something durable and easy to clean on the outside. That either means a display with that built in, or a case to put the display in.

What about a glossy HDTV? If you want to use it as a public display anyway.

Otherwise glossy screen for public displaying? :-/

Check NEC.You'll still pay the "our shit is too cool for poor people" tax but they are very high quality monitors and slightly less expensive than apple.
