Foxconn has been rumored to be planning a new factory in the sity of Chengdu, where the wages are lower and workers more plentiful than their current base in Shenzhen. $10 billion dollar factory, sounds pretty nice! I bet it’s to die for…

Foxconn Chairman Terry Gou is likely to announce the plans when he visits Chengdu next week, the first source said.

/me waits for Kyle to chime in on this news so he can add another classic quote to his sig... ;)

Billions for the plant, pennies for the workers. Guess they're running out of people in Shenzhen. Hell of a way to control overpopulation.

While these jobs are not desirable to those of us in developed countries, have people who are complaining considered what the actual comparable alternative employment for a person in China of similar talent/education/experience of someone working at Foxconn is?

.........More chinamen working for minumum wage in poor conditions; making products for Americans to buy and flow more of our American dollars overseas.

Buy American

lol they need a new factory to make all those Nvidia cards for Nvidia.. :p

I'm actually surprised they didn't open one up in Vietnam. Labor is cheaper there by far.

...........PRICELESS....hehe!:D

Truly classless sense of humor.

But then I admit, I aint got no class either.

Not surprising; the bottom tier of Chinese manufacturing has been moving inland for a while now.

Constantly. There are already OEM/ODM factories in Chengdu, so this is not really news.

I've been to many, many factories, and those workers have better working conditions than I did working in a Coca-Cola bottling plant or wooden fan blade factory in the US.

Well, when you buy from Apple you are. The guys in China are getting the chicken shit in the bottom corner of the cash drawer. The parts suppliers get the coins. Apple never lets any of the paper money leave the country.

So...you go argue over the spare change, I'll worry about the Benjamins.

Let me guess, you work for one of the American companies that profit nicely from slave labor?

One, they aren't slave labor. Most of them in the electronics factories work for three or four years then go home to their native province with a nice nest egg. Right now, labor is so short that they hop companies several times in that period to get pay raises.

Two, what do you seriously believe would be their lifestyle if there were no factories producing good for the West in China? While I'm not saying history repeats itself, google "Great Leap Forward" and "Cultural Revolution" as an indication of what the Chinese people have lived with in the past few generations.

Lastly, if we believe that ending an autocratic Communist government in China is a Good Thing, can you think of a tool better than rampant capitalism to do so?

Breakrooms not included in plan for $10B factory. There are no breaks thus no need for breakrooms.

You could buy danger den, I think all their stuff is american...your not going to get anything...electronic however.
