When it's operating in HSPA+ mode, it says [H] in the status bar.

I rest my case.

PICS OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN!!! :D

Seriously, snap a screenshot or something and send it in to Steve for the news forum, it'll be the [H] sighting of the day.

i'm loving my g2. Was a little worried at first with it's 800mhz proc, but this thing is way faster stock than my last droid with 1300mhz oc. Best phone I have ever used :p

engadget "Overall performance on the device was extremely speedy -- we never saw lag or stalls when switching between apps or opening tabs in the browser and loading pages. Don't let the 800MHz number fool you, the G2 is as fast or faster than most top-end Android phones we've used."

How is your flash experience on the browser? I havnt had flash since my nexus one and I am very curious how the faster specs handle flash content in the browser

I run flash games and jtv, adult-swim videos and everything without a hickup

Try playing this game on it. It's playable on my Droid OC'd to 1.1 GHz, but when a lot of guys come on screen, it slows down a lot, hah. Still playable though.

I been playing this game on my desktop for the past week trying to get brilliant on all the levels.. the last few are ridiculous.

Every benchmark I've seen puts this as the fastest phone out there. It also has exceptional battery life. I'm sure the lower clock speed contributes to that.

I played that gem game for a while and didn't see any slow down. I also got a call while I was being attacked and still nothing got slow or weird.

Yeah... it's a speedy phone, that's a fact.

But.... the well known issues... the loose hinge specifically. I realize that at this point most are comfortable with it being that way intentionally, but mine is loose enough that I'm concerned about the lifespan of the unit. So I called T-Mobile and they shipped me a new one no questions asked. Got it just now, and I swear I think the lid on this one is looser than the one I've been using for a few weeks and is worn in.....

Any thoughts?

Oh... and I'd send a screen shot of the H but I can't find any app that will work for that on a non-rooted phone, and well...... we'll just leave that little issue alone for now.

It does beg the question of Google:

Why don't you folks put a damned screenshot app or key combo in the damned OS?

I mean, it's not like it's tough to do, iOS/iPhone OS has had it for some time now, so what's the dealio... I don't get why that isn't a standard feature.

Maybe - and don't flame me for this - it's like the Linux underpinnings, since the PrintScreen key doesn't work in Linux distros even though it's on pretty much every keyboard ever made for PCs. ;)

I sure hope they add that functionality someday.

I don't think it's a key press issue at all (no flame intended) because Ubuntu and other distros have had screen cap capabilities for ever. So there isn't any reason, that I can come up with anyhow, that there isn't an app that would work. Shootme works just fine as long as you root, but I'm not gonna bother until it will stick.

AFAIK the issue with screencaps is not wanting to allow application X to screencap what app Y is doing. Moreso when app Y could be online banking and the like.
But I agree, overall its dumb.

You can't mess with the G2 at all. It is, in fact, not [H].

Sure.

Give it a little time. There is no such thing as a device that you can't "mess" with. It's fast as hell as is, but given the talent of the android community, my guess is this thing is going to be something else....

We'll see.

Are all emulators running full speed while using the Wiimote?

I'm currently using a Sony Ericsson W580i on AT&T and I'm thinking of ( Finally ) switching over to T-Mobile and getting the G2. Do you think this is a good choice for my first android based phone? I was playing around with it in the store and I'm pretty sure I fell in love. Just wanted to know what you all though about this.

You will love it even more when you buy it =) and it would be a great first android.

800Mhz to 1.4Ghz on a phone? I agree, that sounds [H] to me.

Mine has an H with up/down arrows below it. Does that count? :p

Edit: Damnit, why is it, whenever you buy an Android phone, it's obsolete!? It's Computers all over again! /HTC Desire user

any suggestions on a case for the G2? also an armband or something secure for running/biking.

more of a general question, is there a need to keep it warm? I was out on my bike yesterday with temps ~40F and it felt chilly... not sure if condensation could be an issue bringing it indoors. I don't need to look at it while I'm out, just want it to track me.
