The latest browser usage statistics are out and it looks likes Chrome is steadily making gains. Comparing our stats to the chart below, the Firefox and IE stats are flipped, with everything else pretty much the same.

im happy that opera is having that % of market share.

Nothing attracts hackers like a huge userbase imho...

Looks like a lot of Chrome users are actually Internet Explorer converts. I expected them to all be Firefox users, but Firefox doesn't seem to have lost many users.

Glad to see I know which computer users are arrogant and obnoxious. :D Go back to your linux machine little boy. :p

Five computers here and every one of them is using a Microsoft OS, but yes, I usually do have Linux installed on one of them too.

Who cares who uses what.

I still use firefox myself. I like chrome but I feel the need to not have my entire life surrounded by google. Tried opera but I just never liked the feel of it. That and I felt that most people who used it were akin to mac fanboys.

Sad to see that 60% of computer users are still dumb. ;)

I'm posting from IE because I'm forced to from work. Infact, I'd guess that >90% of people are forced to post from IE at work. How much do you think these statistics would change if they only included people's "home" browsers?

It does matter which browser you use when it comes to security and that is why I made the comment I did. With noscript plugin FF is far more secure than IE.

The mainstream could careless which web browser they use, they just want the one that can get them to their email, youtube, and occasional porn site. And the quickest way to do all that is to use the one that comes with the OS.

Right.... so what exactly do you suggest I do while at work? Break my corporate policy, hack admin rights, and install firefox and then get fired the next day when it get's autoaudited?

I also use Firefox - the addons are the reason I refuse to switch. I havn't tried chrome, but like you, I dont want anything from google - besides the search engine, and google earth for referance.

Yup. IE6 I'd bet.:D

What keeps me using firefox is the add-ons and the lack of active X, what keeps me away from Chrome is lack of add-ons and stability issues.

i just think its interesting that chrome is the only browser to make much of any change....the rest are pretty much the same

Yes. Indeed. I wonder how many of those were 'tricked' into using it? It seems any application I attempt to install these days wants to install the google toolbar and would be installed if I clicked next to fast or too rapidly..... and then chrome always wants to installed with Google Earth, etc.

So I wonder how many Google Chrome installs on IE users machines are stealth installs were people with the computer skills of our parents or parents parents go ...ohh...google something...next next next ...where's my IE? Well...I guess this still opens websites. I'll use it I guess.

Yes, but you forgot the step of hacking the auto-auditing software so it shows no anomalies.

Or you can do what i've been doing for the last 5 years. Remote desktop to home and then browse problem solved!

RDP saved me from stupid IT policies that are stuck using OLD POS browsers like IE6.

How is safari so high!? theres a 5% computer market share for crApples (and the people I know with them use chrome or FF) and I couldn't see why anyone would use that lump o' offal. It can't include smarphones or consoles, because then opera would be higher. etc.
The reason FF and chrome don't make it well in enterprise is because their not made for that. FF struggles on network user accounts.

Team Chrome! I run adblock except on my favorite sites, including the [H]. It is fast and snappy and has the perfect layout and look for me! Been running it since beta.

IE8 being less secure is an urban myth unless there is real numbers, and I don’t think there is since those are web browsers not anti-virus software.

I primarily use IE but have nothing against any of the others. They are all generally the same.
