Picked one up to replace a Radeon 4670 that has gotten too long in the tooth... Besides buy 2 for $200 and get GTX475/HD5850 performance on the cheap!

Also, free shipping makes this deal sweeter...I'm more of an ATI guy, but a GTS450 for $99.99, I couldn't pass! Besides, I could SLI when these cards hit $75....I find $99.99 being the right price for the GTS450...Unlike the 5830, this card found it's right price a little quicker ;)

$100 is right on the money for that card. Sucks there's a rebate involved but still a good deal.

how does this compare to my current setup? 260GTX sli? looking to go single card

You're going to want to eye one of the higher end cards if you're also looking for a performance jump. These are very mainstream cards that hover around or below the 5770. Great price!

The rebate has been removed from newegg...So...its a meh, deal, and I am PO'd at newegg for removing the link. $120 is decent, but $99.99 is sweet...at $120, you might as well get a 5770...;( .............It's too late for me, but the rest of you beware!

They are not done yet. AMD promised to price match the 5770. And they can easily do so here. we may see the 450GTS drop to 90 before too long. price wars for the win :D

4 1/2 years on here and you really ask a question like that? maybe you could look at reviews and see that a gts450 is not even as fast as a single gtx260.

anyway, 100 bucks without a rebate and these cards will be a good deal for those looking for a decent gpu at 1680.

While the GTX260 may outperform, nobody has yet to give this guy any sort of food for thought.

Good sir, despite the drop in performance, you also pick up DX11. Depending on the size and res of your monitor, I'd say drop the GTX's for the GTS450 in SLI. You'll break even, and have enough performance (...and heat) to run the same games you have now, only with a piece of mind for future games that can utilize DX11. Two GTS450's should be good enough to handle anything maxed out that isn't on full HD.

.... Worst advice ever [of many]. Go through ALLLLL the hassle of reselling and buying and rebates yadayada for INFERIOR performance just for ... DX11 (Whoopdee).

Nevermind that bit on futureproofing for the future because predictably in the future, those future games will run just as well when that future does indeed come by. Ugh. Need to kick a cat, DX11... "for future"... kick cat.. kick cat.. kick a kitty cat.

Next up: Sell the GTS 450s in that future, replace with dual GTS 540s or w/e that's inferior in performance. GAIN DX12 (for another future with future games "that can utilize DX12"!!!)!!!!!!!!! WIN+PROFIT!!!!(?)

I look at it this way....the 5770 is DX11 and just a tad bit slower than the 4870...and the GTS450 is DX11 and a bit slower than the GTX260....some people will do a 5770 in crossfire, and it will decimate a 4850x2, similarly a GTS450 in SLI will decimate a single...well....Up to a GTX285 really...plus you get DX11 in both cases....so, just as a 5770 in CFX is a good replacement for a 4870, the GTS450 in SLI is a good replacement for a GTX260....I mean, a 5770 in CFX is about Equal to a 5870, and a GTS450 in SLI is about equal to a GTX470....so if you had a 4870 or a GTX260, wouldn't you move from one of them to a 5870 or GTX470?

DX 11 is all but meaningless. And you're not going to be enjoying the DX 11-only graphics effects in Metro with any of those low-end cards anyway.

that is a bit harsh. it certainly isn't a deal breaker but it shouldn't be discarded. it will certainly determine the longevity of the card if nothing else.

DX11 doesn't at any length "determine" a card's lifeline; performance does.

then why not go with a 90 dollar 4870? save ten bucks and get a faster card. features do contribute to a cards longevity.

Guess the benefit of MUCH lower power consumption (heat can be added here as well) and noise has been lost on some guys, not to mention getting NEW TOYS!!!!

so are you trying to be funny or are you just really that out of the loop?

Sorry, skimmed the thread and haven't shopped for cards since my GTX 260.

I am guessing you didn't read the thread. this is the second Fermi derivative to come out, the GF106

Thanks, reading up now. Good to hear they're moving beyond the G92 for the mainstream.

Decent deal, would replace an older 8800 GTS card for me.. although I don't see any games on the horizon I'm instantly drawn too except maybe Civ5, but I doubt that will tax my card at all.

GOT IT!
Runs really well!
Cooler than my Powercolor 5770 PCS+, and performance wise just a bit slower than my XFX 5770 (stock speeds).

Rivatuner is useless to OC this....I can't wait till they have a version that does tho, I hear that these cards are good for 5830 performance when overclocked! Incredible deal for <$100.

or EVGA precision

I highly recommend MSI Afterburner over EVGA Precision. EVGA's software used to be the best, but MSI Afterburner is much more full featured, albeit with a comparatively cluttered UI.

I'd have a hard time living without custom fan profiles and the stress test is great for pushing your shaders. (But useless for stressing memory.)

well yeah but I normally suggest precision for someone just looking for a simple oc and monitoring tool.

actually now with the newest drivers, 5770 1G steamrolls a 4870 512MB and just barely beats out a 4870 1GB by a few FPS even at higher res' in FarCry2, Crysis, etc etc

(i can also vouch for this because ASUS sent me back a 5770 1GB when I rma'ed my 4870 512MB and I can run GTA IV at a hell of a lot higher of a setting with some AA at 1920x1080 than I could on my 4870)
