Hero's of Newerth

OP you can add me to the list if you want. Game name same as forum name: BadDreams. I usually play 2-3 games after work, usually 1600+ AP/AB.

Disposed: We get it, you're a LoL fanboy and probably won't listen to reason when it comes to HoN. And thats fine. To me Chess -> Checkers as HoN -> LoL.

Updated.

@Disposed: Not trying to start an argument but, go play HoN. Seriously, go play HoN. When you are done, look me straight in the face and tell me HoN isn't hard.

Disposed should go make a LoL thread, this is a HoN thread. In this thread, we don’t care what you play unless it's HoN.

If you want to discuss HoN vs LoL, make a thread for that.

Want to discuss HoN and all of its ownage, stay, and join us.

I have played more than enough HoN to tell you and anyone else that if you think its any harder than the other MOBAs you are an ignorant fanboy fooling yourself.

The only thing remotely more difficult about it is the pita store UI.

Xeno, holy cow stop dying so much! I can't even imagine how much grief your teammates must give you :D

We don't give him grief, we just play for fun :)

Xeno still needs to learn; boots shouldn't be a first item pick. :p

I want to play things for fun. You guys play normal I Hope :) . Em is such a joke.. Can do some [H] games get a 5on5 going fun fun.

Yeah I remember those days. Starting out with marchers and runes, building staff on tb or pyro. Ahh, ignorance was bliss!

If we have enough people I'd love to do some "in house" 5v5 no stats, I can bring 2-3 people who won't talk trash and will probably even be helpful!

My user name is Juggafat. I'm usually around 1600 psr but my brother has been playing on my account with less than desired results lol. I'm currenty 1500+.

Yeah I have not had much time to play past few weeks. Psr tends to drop when in pugs that don't like to team play :(. I like to play with at least 1 or 2 friends so that we can control the game just a little bit more

I think I'm the opposite. When I play alone I do fine, when I play with my friends we're less like the A Team and more like the Three Stooges.

Anyone got a spare invite? I've played DoTA for quite some time and wanted to try this out

Yah it's bad. I'm still learning the correct builds and it's not something you learn on the first try. I'm just now starting to get ganking down. Deaths are greatly expected when you are just starting off. Especially since the only class I like is the casting classes. I don't like the agility and strength classes because you have to get in close. I prefer range but range is really fragile. I don't care though. It's just a game. Besides, I can always restart my stats. Even if I do, still gonna have more deaths then kills. I'm not a hardcore gamer like I use to be.

Well your most played hero is Plague and he isn't a chaser. He is a babysitter early game and death with wings mid game. During laning phase just use his nuke to harass anyone who tries to farm creeps and protect your carry. During teamfights stay back and shield your initiator/carry, nuke the opposing teams most dangerous hero and ult once enemy creeps are gone.

If you like ranged chasing heroes start playing some that also have great escape mechanisms and that are relevant all game. Valk for example. Just food for thought.

Yah with 50+ hero's, each one different or slightly the same as another, it's still gonna take some time. Especially since I wont play unless my friends are on. Speaking of which, I need to add y'all to my friends list. Haven't been on in a couple of days. Don't know if I'll be on tonight.

I'll be getting on with a few friends around 9PM if you guys are up for some games.

Yea, usually we play AP if we are doing 5v5's. If we do 2v2 or 3v3's we play the smaller map and APEM.

We play for fun, so if we lose, no hair off our back, if we win, hell yea! As long as we are having fun, that's all we really care about. I would say most of the time there is no bitching, but every once in a while someone will say something. But we try to keep it constructive rather than just going off and saying "your bad, you suck, your bad, just quit". That doesn't help anyone.

Also, generally when we play, we have 3-5 locals playing. We always create our own game, and we BAN a-holes. We keep a list, we check it twice :p

Yah we've had a couple a-holes come in and bitch. We simply just tell them "bitch some more," or "bitch much?" The funny thing is we will have someone that just straight up bitches the whole time and we'll ignore him and win. Love it when people bitch and call us noobs and we remind them the game was titled for noobs.

Add me on the list I guess, darklcd in game. I'm always willing to throw out what little knowledge I have and it's always nice to have other people to play with instead if completely random people.

Ran a tri lane last night, second time doing so. It occurs to me if you were a group of 3 friends playing in a 1500ish pub game and you ran a tri lane, you would probably win the vast majority of your games no matter how bad your other two teammates are.

I'd be down for some games this weekend, I work evenings so I miss all the games you guys play :p

Does everyone use vent? I have a 35 slot server left over from my days of running a wow raiding guild, rarely more than 10 people on it. Not sure how many people use vent these days though.

Another thing about LoL I like more is the lack of denying creep kills.

I think it is a stupid mini game mechanic to have to focus on, and it's removal gets people to focus more on other champions or pushing.

I know it was doable in dota, but I think the taking away of that is an improvement. I also like the fact that your champion choice is not determined by faction you fight on. No matter what side of the map you are on, you have the same access and champion pool to choose from as the other guys.

Again, that is a superior design imo.

You can set the game options to allow for all heroes to be picked from both sides, it's called 'AP' or 'All Pick' and you can even use the option 'duplicate heroes' if you want to allow multiple people to choose the same hero.

As for the creep denies, I like this. It allows you to make sure the other team isn't getting any gold or less xp. You can also use it to bait kills. People will get frustrated with you if you are denying all their creep, so they will play more aggressively, which you can use to pull in a kill.

It's not a superior design, it's a simplified design. Last hits and denies early game can pay dividends late game. Against players of similar skill your hero's base attack strength will effect how you last hit and deny when laning against an enemy hero adding even more complexity to it.

I made the comparison earlier in this thread:

HoN -> chess
LoL -> checkers

Both games are enjoyable, just different.

Maybe post peoples' stats as well? I know hammyton is in a top 20 clan, so I'm not sure how interested he'd be in playing with lesser skilled people.

rickster
hammyton
Xenomaniac

Also you misspelled your HoN name in your first post. ;)

Would be to much work to constantly be updating people's stats.

I've been seeing a few of you pop on and off over the last week. But haven't yet had a chance to play with any of you.

The stats are automatic on the website.
