StealthGuards FREE mobile device skins, shipping only

They werent cut very well from the excess plastic so i had a hell of a time peeling it off. I ended up not using the screen because it made the screen look terrible.

Good thing my captivate has gorilla glass i guess :-o

Would we be better off using a knife to cut out the skins from the main sheet since they don't come cut very well?

Mine still look bubbly in some spots, maybe it's excess adhesive or something? I've squeezed out every ounce of extra soapy water that was under the things and I have no idea. I'm going to remove them and reapply them using a slightly different way I saw someone recommend on an android forum....he said to get lukewarm soapy water in a bowl, dip the protector in the bowl, and then apply it (as opposed to spraying it). I'm going to try it that way and see if it works any better - if not, I'll just get something else and trash these.

dont try to remove it, i dont think you will get it back on, that is to say i think they will stretch out of shape and look worse if you try it anyways....

you would be better off leaving it alone a few more days, my Zagg did the same thing, any of these polyurethane skins will look like that the first couple days....

i see no major differences between this and the Zagg invisible shield in terms of application results

thats why Best Buy offers installation of these as a paid service, you dont like the results? take it back, get them to do it again

I too have a Sprint TouchPro2, did some research yesterday. The AT&T Tilt 2 is another Touch Pro 2 phone. That said, may not be the exact size/shape. (The Tilt 2 has a PTT button?) But for under $3... I'll give it a shot!

I (finally) received my two (AT&T TP2 / Tilt2) skins.

It fits 99% correctly on my Sprint TP2. I could've left the knockout below the mute button intact, and I had to use a razor blade to trim near the headphone/USB ports. (FYI, The speaker cutouts do line up with the openings in the back cover. All front parts fit perfectly.

Actually it does work, you can remove them, dip them in soapy water, and reapply them and they will stick again. I ended up giving up on it though. I was able to get it to go on clearly, but I could still see some of the adhesive at certain angles, and a part of the left side of mine has a discoloration or something on it (it's not clear, it's almost like scuff marks or something). Seems like you get the adhesive stuff all over the phone while applying if the skin slides while you're trying to squeegee out the water. Once a portion of it dries, if that moves again, you'll get the bubble effect which is actually the adhesive. I couldn't get them absolutely perfect, so I gave up. (and I tried/retried several times)

For what its worth, I did not use a spray bottle to apply the soapy water mixture...I did the bowl/dip method....;)

I will say this, this method does work ok...but you will get fingerprints on the underside of the skins unless you make sure to keep both sets of fingers wet...hence me saying using tweezers like nobody_here suggested.:D

I finally got mine today. Came in a standard envelope with only a $0.44 stamp (yet cost me $10 in "shipping" costs, lulz. ) All four skins were jammed together between a piece of paper with no marking distinguishing each set from each other, though it should be easy enough to tell which one goes with which, and I'll probably only use the screen protector anyway.

if you've a phone with a glass screen, the screen protector is probably the one that you will need the least:

just got mine in the mail.
will attempt the install this weekend.

Although it doesn't look to be too terribly difficult for my Captivate, since it's only 2 large pieces, and no need for a hole since the microphone is on the bottom of the phone and won't be near (relatively) the cover.

ok I take that back.
for my Captivate, there are 3 pieces. But not for the top or bottom, so no need for holes for the mic or usb port.

problem is, the protector is too large. The Captivate's screen isn't flush with the body; it sits down just a hair, and since the protector is too large it obviously doesn't fit properly. Gonna try to trim one side a hair and see if I can get it to fit correctly.

Got mine today. I ordered two, and one set was placed with the protector sides facing each other in the envelope, so that in-transit they adhered to each other. I used a soapy mixture from my other screen protector (the one that I actually used) to separate them but they were so warped anyway that they're useless.

Overall I'd have to say it was a waste of money, and in no way is this free. The packaging they used (envelope and a stamp) costs about $0.50 total. Their profit margins won't be as large as the companies that charge $20 for a set, but they make up for it in volume since everyone and their brother jumped on this "deal."

Luckily it was still <$5.00 for me so no big loss, and it gives me some excess material to play around with.

What reviews like this fail to consider is that quartz is very high up on the hardness scale, and very, very common in dirt/sand mixtures in pretty much every area of the world. Quartz can scratch Gorilla Glass, and no, it does not take much pressure because of the size of the particles. If you have a tiny bit of dirt that contains a tiny bit of quartz in your pocket, there's a chance it will come out with scratches.

This.

And guess what nail files are made of? Give your phone to your GF/Wife to carry around in her purse? Oops! There goes the screen.

got mine in perfect condition, have not installed yet.

received mine 30 mins ago when wifey brought up the mail. packaged the same as everyone else, however mine arrived in perfect condition may install later tonight and repost.....

cheers

Still haven't received mine. Got the shipping notice over a week ago, I believe ... hmm...

going on 11 days (only 7 business days) since I ordered, no shipping confirmation and my credit card was charged almost instantly. Hopefully I will see something by this Friday..

So I reapplied using very light, soapy water. Douse the protector in it, let it drop down so its not SUPER set, and apply. Use your fingers to push bubbles out.

On the captivate you will need to trim a tiny bit to get it to apply properly, but it is doable (used the side of a CC + Razor Blade)

I am disappointed that my "full body protection" doesnt protect the bottom or top.

Edit: On a good note these come of and have a high tolerance to not stretch. Just be sure you are pulling as close to where the protector adheres as possible.

soapy water?

Ordered 2 on the 29th of August, they just came in today! Wtf...

Anyways, cheap I guess.

But the company took a week to respond to my email and shipping is ridiculously slow. Only buy these if you don't mind waiting 1/2 month to receive...

same here. i kinna regret ordering em now but the price ...

Mine came in and the install on my EVO went pretty well. Was a little daunting at first and I had to figure out where the side pieces went.

I ordered 2 and I used pieces from both. The stupid protectors were melted together, had to slowly peel them away. Made a real big mess and I had to put them under water to get them apart.

I did not install the front shield because I'm using the sprint screen protector. Will have to cut it or something.

My envelope came today, with receipt. Nothing else in the envelope.

Guess they scammed me out of $21 bucks. Guess it's time to open a Paypal dispute. Yay.

Total shit company.

My stealth guards came in today. This is LOADS better than the invisible shield I had for my Evo. It was faster to put on, looks cleaner, and was easier to get air bubbles out of.

Here's a guide I found helpful for the EVO.

Got mine today and tried to apply it to an itouch 3g but the screen protector was way too big for it.
as I applied it on with a solution, my card seemed to be marring up the screen protector so it looked like total crap. They seemed to stretch a lot too.

I wouldn't order these if it was free and free shipping.

what you dont understand about these sort of skins is that within a few days all those marks would be gone...its self heals...it looks like hell at first, few days later it looks totally different

LOL, ok, you do realize if you went to best buy and bought the zagg invisible skin which is the same thing, you would have paid $25-$30 for it right? well, pretty box and whatnot that you would throw away of course.....but still....so lets say you paid $5 for the product with free shipping, big freaking deal.....seriously, paypal dispute? you got nothing to do i take it

That's how it was for my iPhone 3GS. It gets better around 24 hours. You can't even tell that I even have a protector on it now.

What the hell are you talking about? If I went to Best Buy and bought a Zagg Invisible Skin, I would have a a piece of plastic to cover my phone. As it is, I have a piece of paper and an envelope. How the FUCK do you compare an empty envelope, costing me ~$20 to a legitimate product purchased at Best Buy in a box that contains the product advertised?

Seriously. I am absolutely baffled about what you've written here. I ordered 5 skins for my Galaxy S and 5 for my iPod Touch. I got exactly 0 skins for my $21. By any measure, I have been scammed. For $30 from Best Buy i'd have at least ONE skin.

I am just incredulous that you somehow think being taken for $21 for an empty envelope is somehow OK and that I shouldn't bother with a Paypal dispute. You are a fucking moron. In fact, you are so fucking stupid, I would like to sell you some stuff. I swear to god I will sell you a pallet of OCZ SSD's for $200. If you Paypal me $200, I promise to send you the SSD's. If, for some reason you don't receive them, don't waste your time with a Paypal dispute, because, you know, you have better things to do.

Wow, calm down everyone. Holy smokes.

I still haven't got mine yet. Starting to get a little worried. I'm also relieved I didn't order very many...

I received this product for my Droid X a few days ago. Took me about 10 to 12 days before I received my purchase.

First of all, this product is not free. It's just marketing gimmickry, although admittedly brilliant marketing gimmickry. The product is just a simple protective plastic film that costs pennies per application. I can assure you they are making several hundred percent markup profit. These are printed off ( cut ) on a large plotter. The reason you are having to wait is the company has ONE plotter working over time and you are just having to wait.

This product protects a flat surface / finish of your phone and in some cases, rounded corners depending on the design of the Stealth Guard for your make / model of mobile phone.

For instance, after Stealth Guard was applied to my Droid X, I still had several edges unprotected, including the edge right below the phones camera where you will see all the wear if you place this phone down on it's back. Not good.

Here is a link to my how-to video guide on how to apply the Stealth Guard product easily and accurately to your mobile phone. Taken with my new Rebel T2i @ 1080p. I also offer up a brief product review at the end of this 4 mins video.

I personally think my solution is very good. It's fast, can even be done one handed and you do not finger / touch the film at all. Seriously, have a look. And ... soapy water? Lolwhat? I do suggest you clean your phone prior to the application of the Stealth Guard but using a very very lightly damp thick paper towel or a wet wipe that you've let set out in the open air for 10 mins.
