I was wondering if anyone on the forums was able to pick one of these guys up? I believe they are sold out everywhere currently, and there is even a part supply that is delaying Ceton from shipping more out faster.

If people have gotten them it's from the preorder. Due to the chip supply problems Ceton hasn't fulfilled all of the preorders yet.

bummer.. I am hoping to pick one up as soon as I can find a deal & eliminate my tivo's

Yeah, I've had one on pre-order since April, nothin'. This thing apparently rocks and will sell tons if they could actually MAKE them. I want to get another but I guess I'll be waiting for a while.

damn, i was really hoping to be able to avoid using TimeWarner DVR. But seems like once I get cable again, I'll have to get it at least, temporarily.

I preordered first day so I've had mine about a month too, minor difficulty first day with the cablecard install but that was on the billing side apparently, took like 12 hours before the majority of the channels would show up, since then, no problems, just works.

Have had my ATI internal cablecard for over a year now and its great. You can pick em up on ebay still and from Canon PC I believe. Works flawlessly with Comcast HD.

How many tuners does the ATI have? I believe the ceton cards are quad tuners and can record 4 HD shows at once. If the ATI can do at least 2, I may pick one up.

And don't the ATI ones Run about $250 each? The Ceton is a much better deal at $400, if they were in stock, that is.

yea there only single tuner, but there is nothing that says ou cant have more then 1.. & The cost difference would justify buying 2 if thats what your need is for.

I just like to watch live TV on my 2nd pc display once in a while so I only need one. Never use it as a DVR either. Thats what my comcast box is for :)

The ATi ones have been discontinued, so the only market for them is the used market. A quick glance on Fleabay suggested to me that they might be down to being worth only $100 each.

If you onlyhave a need for 1 tuner, the ATi one might be the way to go. Once you're looking into more than 1 tuner, the Ceton wins as it can take a single M card instead of each ATi getting its own..

thats assuming that your cable provider will actually give you a M card.. CableOne says they don't have em at all..

If they put M cards in their own cable boxes, they're required by the FCC rules authorized by the Telecom Act of 1934 (amended, of course) to give you an M card.

they dont put M cards in there own box's..

Everything is straight forward and only needs to be done once....when the comcast tech comes to your house to pair the cablecard tuner. After that its all handled by Windows Media Center.

How is that different from the Ceton one?

You must be a fan of terrible UI's

The MC UI doesn't even compare to a cable box UI.

And the ATI Digital Cable Tuners don't work with Verizon FIOS anymore since they enabled Simulcrypt.

A word of warning about the ATI tuners, yeah they're getting cheaper (they were only so expensive before because that was all that was available), but not only are they discontinued, they're EoL, meaning no more driver or (more importantly) firmware updates. If something in the cablelabs spec changes, they'll just stop working (like they're going to soon stop working for FIOS where the ceton cards (after update) will work just fine still).
