Electric Vehicles Now Have Sounds

Most decent cars are so quiet all you hear are the tires whooshing on the road anyways.
 
I'm going to set mine to 20hz.

Purely to piss off Prius drivers.
 
IF I ever get one... my first mod is to remove this crap.
 
it would be fun to hack a friend's car to scream HIEL HITLER every time they hit the brakes
 
I had some real (imo) smart stuff to say about this... but all the clown assery in this thread is just too damn funny.
 
how come this is news? a coworker bought a prius last year and he said it makes noise as a safety factor.
 
I want a totally silent electric car. They don't NEED to make noise just because people are currently used to engine noise. This is like building flat screens into huge cases like CRTs used to use or building a PC into a case as big as an entire room. We just need to adjust to it.

Even at really low speeds if the engine is on the running lights are on, if you're backing up the backup lights are on. How stupid are people?
 
eh, weeds, they show them using a prius to gun people down. also you ever wonder why so many people take the mufflers out of motorcycles? the answer is so they don't get run over by cars.

I suspect the quieter you make the cars the more accidents they will tend to have. and the cars are small anyway. would you want your daughter to drive a silent version of these?
 
They just need to make electric vehicles blast AC/DC by default, because, as we all know, Rock & Roll Ain't Noise Pollution.
 
I have a tip. Wait till people start getting hit by these things before worrying about pedestrian safety. There's no proof people are stupid enough to walk in front of them. You have to remember that even if one person isn't paying attention, that an accident requires two.
 
I GOT IT!

Everytime I brake the car, the sounds of a woman moaning in pleasure will come out. The harder I brake, the louder the moans. If I slam on the brakes, she will scream "HARDER!!!"

I will brake often... in front of churches.
 
LOL, where did they get that sound clip? sounds like a VW with a turned rod bearing. That's about five times louder than my regular car by the way. I've said this a hundred times. New cars are all pretty quiet. Not just the electric ones. That sound is foul and terrible. It sounds like some thing I would never buy.;) FFS why would I want my car to sound like a hunk of junk? None the less, my brand new electric car that cost me 40,000 and will cost me another 20,000 in 6 years when it needs new batteries. Not all idea are good ideas.

Yes, I'm sure that's it. That's probably the same reason people use vuvuzelas at soccer games. You don't want to get hit by a car while you're sitting in the stands. And that's the same reason some people always shout whenever they speak. Using your "inside voice" is a safety hazard.

That is the only acceptable sound for a car to have added on purpose.

SILENCE is golden. We don't need to make EVs louder, we need to make *ALL* vehicles quieter. Once the general background level of sound is lower, people will hear EVs just fine.
 
Don't cars want to be more silent? Also you are greatly losing efficiency when sounds are being generated from the speaker.
 
please no more loud vehicles. I especially hate those motorcycles that go around belching like retards with tourette's, it's so rude and nobody cares or is impressed by you, please stop.

Imagine NY or any busy city, it would be so much more peaceful and less frantic, maybe even the crime and suicide rate would diminish. Would make gaming/movies better anyways, because you wouldn't have as much low rumblings from traffic outside disturbing your experience inside.

Amen to that. My town is full of idiots with loud ass Harleys and trucks. The roar of your vehicle does not impress me, it makes me want to ram your head up the goddamn tailpipe. I wouldn't mind city life half as much if it wasn't for all the damned vehicle noise.
 
It'd be great if the car would playback Gunther songs on endless loop.....as it is, it's lame as hell.
