I have searched high and low on how to fix this, but nothing is working.

I have run of the mill specs:

EVGA X58 SLI LE (latest BIOS)
6GB (3x2GB) G.Skill DDR3-1600 @ 9-9-9-24
Core-i7 930 @ Stock
MSI Radeon 5850 1GB
Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Corsair TX650

If i'm honest, this would happen when I first built this rig but all I would have to do is reboot it and it would be back to showing all 6GB as usable. I just upgraded my CPU cooler to a Venomous-X and upon booting up, it showed only 4GB usable so I rebooted it like I normally do but I couldn't get all 6GB recognized!

What setting am I missing that is causing this? I'm about ready to throw this machine out the window!

Very common issue on EVGA x58 boards. You might want to start here if you haven't seen it already.

If I remember correctly, many (if not most that I've seen) people have fixed this problem simply by loosening up their heat sink a little. That is -- those who were ABLE to fix the problem.

Thanks for that link, there are a few things on there I haven't tried. If I can't fix it, the board is getting RMA'd. I shouldn't have to just "accept" this.

Any miracle fixes out there? Nothing in that list worked either.

Nope. Didn't work.

Trouble ticket started with EVGA. This is ridiculous.

First time I have seen this, but honestly we don't deal with EVGA much anymore. They don't appreciate our reviews of their equipment.....anyway. I have not seen this with any other board. Has anyone else? And I have seen a LOT of X58 boards in the last year or so.

You know the same thing just happened to me. I had 6 gigs running just fine but once I installed a TRUE heatsink my computer won't even boot up with ram in the last slot for tri channel. I'm using 4 gigs right now.

We have the same board so if you manage to get it to work please let me know. Otherwise I'm leaving for a week here soon, so I guess that would be a good time to send it in.

What is the point of posting that you have no problems when its clearly a widespread issue with EVGA X58 boards? Just curious.

Look at all the posts about it on the EVGA forums.

Op.. heres things to actually check since everyone seems to want to blame it on the brand of the board.

Loosen the heatsink so its not pushing down on the board.. MEMORY MISSING ON A BOARD IS ACTUALLY A VERY COMMON X58 PROBLEM.

If it happen after you applied the heatsink im sure if you loosen it.. it will fix the problem. Also check and make sure you didnt bend any pings on your socket because that can also cause the problem.

Completely reseated the CPU and heatsink last night. No bent pins and kept the "pressure adjustment screw" on the Venomous X all the way out.

Well, you seem to be suggesting that you did not do your homework before buying the board, and that it's a widespread issue and that you clearly shouldn't have even bought it?

So I'm just letting you know I just bought one also, and haven't experienced the issue. I also took the risk and it's been fine.

Yours also was previously fine, suggesting as others have to look at some other areas first.

FWIW - Kyle already told you to just RMA it. I'd trust and take that advice.

But I know I bagged ATi for many months for my GSOD issues that I experienced for six months before someone realized what was happening, and there was an insta-fix. So, it doesn't have to be an all-encompassing EVGA board issue. I would have RMAed my ATi card, and still had GSOD issues.

Not defending EVGA, just stating it doesn't have to be EVGA.

But, Kyle said RMA, so I'd RMA... (I'd RMA too if I experienced the issue...)
