First and foremost, I'm very happy with my current setup. I really haven't cared about DX11 as I don't play any games that use it, but with Civ5 (DX11 supported) coming out at the end of Sept., I'm thinking about picking up a GTX 480. I realize no one has any experience with this game yet, but I'm totally a Civ fanatic and was wondering if it'd be worth it.

Instead of a single 480, a pair of 460s OCed will be faster and around the same price.

A single 470 is also faster than SLI 260s in my personal tests.

I would also say go with the 460 SLI option though.

Well I definitely don't want to go 460 SLI. There's really no upgrade path with two 460's a year from now. I appreciate the responses, though I'm more so wondering if upgrading to DX11 is warranted come Sept/Oct. Also, 480's can be had for ~$400 every so often, whereas two 1GB 460's would be a little more than that.

Why don't you wait for reviews first? DX11 implementation in many games has been underwhelming so far. A GTX 460 is only as fast as a GTX 275, for a point of reference.

I am in the same boat. SLI 260s are a a really good setup, but in newer games they are starting to show their age at high res.

Unfortunately there haven't been a lot of viable upgrades at what I consider a reasonable price. I almost went for SLI 470s when they were going for $240 AR but I didn't.

Oh I plan to! I just wanted to feel out my options and hear what others had to say. I completely agree with you about the 460 bit. It wouldn't be worth it and a year from now I'd really have no options.

I'm hoping come late Sept., early Oct., we start seeing some really nice deals. :D

What kind of FPS are you pulling on your current setup in a few games you're playing? Just curious, because I'm looking at picking up another GTX 260.

I will have two 260's for sale shortly, upgrading my 260 sli setup soon as well.

60+++ @ 1920x1200 in everything I play, though I don't really play first person's or anything that's incredibly over the top violent. If you already have one 260, I think picking up a second one used for $100-$120 would definitely be worth it. I guess I really started this thread, because I'm looking for an excuse to get a DX11 card. In the end, it probably won't be worth it hehe.
