Help me find a replacment wireless mouse

I am in the market for a wireless mouse. My mouse pad is a ratpadz. I don't need fancy dpi changing buttons. I just need a accurate wireless mouse that will work well on my ratpadz. Must glide smooth and light. I will game with it, but I don't need anything fancy. It must be wireless because I play on my HTPC. Yes I game on my HTPC and it will always be that way. I don't want to tie myself to it or have 2 mice.

I have been using a Sidewinder X8 for a while. It is okay but it has problems that I am finally giving up on. I have read that other people have problems with this mouse too. The scroll wheel sometimes does not register and will not change weapons in a game, which can be frustrating. Sometimes the clicks will be delayed which is horrid. This mouse is also heavy and does not slide smooth.

only real option would be the razer mamba, but that has its own issues as well......

is a wired mouse totally out of the question?

What problems does the mamba have?

This is my setup. It would be inconvenient to use a wired mouse. I have tried. I can set it on the stand and just pick it up when i need it, but the wire pulls on the mouse. Also don't have the freedom to sit on my couch.

Should I go with the new G700? It don't like all the buttons, but many I can find a use for them. How does it compare to the sidewinder?
