The games in the pack include Quake III, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Fallout 3 and TES IV Oblivion (both are GOTY editions) and all the old Quake, DOOM, Wolf 3D and HeXen games with expansion packs. Here’s the complete list of games you get:

That's a LOT of games for $69.99!

I'm missing several CDs from Doom 3, Quake Series and Return to Castle Wolfenstein. For this price I can't refuse.

Damn...that's quite the deal.I have a good chunk of those (somewhere), but I'm tempted just because I don't have the PC versions of Fallout 3 or Oblivion.

Hell, if they are all re-certified to work on Win7-64 bit that would be a hell of a deal.

MUST KNOW if they work on win7 x64. I need this package, but moreso, i'll need it to work >_<

Almost all of those are great games, but some things are better remembered the way they were originally played. I'm not convinced most would like it nearly as much now.

They all work fine under XP/vista/win7 64 bit

I have 99% of them already. it'd be a deal...if you could gift the ones you already have rather then them just going poof.

I have my doubts that the following will work on Windows 7 64bit...
Wolfenstein 3D, The Ultimate Doom, Final DOOM, DOOM II, QUAKE, QUAKE II, QUAKE II Mission Pack: The Reckoning, QUAKE II Mission Pack: Ground Zero, HeXen: Beyond Heretic, HeXen: Deathkings of the Dark Citadel, Heretic: Shadow of the Serpent Riders, Spear of Destiny, QUAKE Mission Pack 2: Dissolution of Eternity, QUAKE Mission Pack 1: Scourge of Armagon, HeXen II, Master Levels for Doom II, Commander Keen, Rogue Warrior, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind® Game of the Year Edition, Call of Cthulhu®: Dark Corners of the Earth, Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion® Game of the Year Edition Deluxe.

Though my copy of MDK 2 works on my Win7 64bit rig with an Nvidia GTX285 at max frame rate in OGL :)

The good news is I have a WinXP system sitting idle hardly used. Hmmmm time to boot the sucker up :)

I can confirm that most of them do work. Apart from Doom and The old Wolfdenstein and comander keens because I haven't got them. But then again I am sure they do.

^^^ This.

Some things are better remembered.

Haven't play Q3A in years (many). I have such fond memories and I'd hate to over write them with bleh. I did that with PlanetSide and regretted it.

Agreed. An old, great game may have been satisfying at a time, but things change.

I don't know if yall are old enough to remember this, but back when Quake came out, ID put out the game as a "shareware" for $5. That disc contained the full version of Quake, plus full versions of everygame ID put out before that. Doom series, Herectic, Wolfenstien. I don't remember if Hexen was on there, but I think it was. Cause I remember playing a Herectic game I had never played before.

So what you did was install the software and it had keys for the full retail versions. You called ID software, purchased the game and they gave you a matching unlock key.

Anyways, God bless the then young Internet, shortly after the shareware disc went on sale, this program called qcrack was released that would crack the codes. You got every game ID had made for $5. I bought mine at Computer City, I was like 15 at the time, it was the greatest feeling ever at the time :D And still pretty awsome looking back....definently not DMCA friendly, lol.

i generally agree with this but q3a is pretty much timeless ala counterstrike except it didnt get as much a following outside of the pro/highly competitive gamers to keep it going as long

i still think it holds the crown as the standard for arena deathmatch games

Wait what? You doubt that Fallout 3 and Oblivion work on win 7 64 bit??

For anything dos based, as mentioned previously, dosbox should work fine in win 7 64 bit.

I individually clicked on several of the older titles and they mention vista (win 7 is nearly identical to vista). My guess is they have dosbox already incorporated.

Commander Keen, Quake, Quake 2, QUAKE II Mission Pack: Ground Zero, QUAKE II Mission Pack: The Reckoning, QUAKE Mission Pack 1: Scourge of Armagon, QUAKE Mission Pack 2: Dissolution of Eternity, Heretic: Shadow of the Serpent Riders, HeXen 2, HeXen,HeXen: Deathkings of the Dark Citadel, Doom II, Final Doom, Master Levels for Doom II, The Ultimate Doom, Spear of Destiny, :
Minimum: A 100% Windows 2000/XP/Vista-compatible computer system

Its the newer ones written specifically for XP that are more likely to have a problem.
Sure enough, Doom 3 says "Microsoft® Windows® 2000/XP (Does not support Windows Vista/7)"

From what I can tell from reading the steam forums, all the dos based games in this pack have dosbox invisibly integrated into them (hence the notice about vista compatability). So you play it like a normal game, download and click on game in steam list, and its all in the background so one doesn't notice. Steam did the same thing for the dos based x-com games.

However, if someone wants to buy me the quakecon pack, I will individually test each and every game on my win 7 64 bit install to verify they work, and for any that don't, research to see if fixes are availible and if they work. :)

I just did some googling on doom 3 and it looks like it CAN work in win 7 despite it saying it won't.

most all of those work just fine with 7 x64

Look they ALL work in win7 64 bit fine. I already have the id complete pack, and all the old dos stuff works great, sound and all. All the settings are done through dosbox and autodetected and emulated. It's click and play.

Yeah, now that we have multiple confirmations, I wonder if all those people bemoaning the lack of compatibility will buy the pack now.

I don't know why, but I get this bad feeling about ordering games in bulk. A hoarders dream though, alot of those are real classics, but it's just like they just threw them into a pile and said "Here, all these games for $69.99." Heh.

Not really, most have been availible for a long time on the id pack that steam sells. Its just normally way too expensive for the entire pack. Some Bethesda games are included now because beth bought out id.

There's a funny double standard that exists on [H] that I've noticed over the years. On the one hand you got threads similar to this that pop up, where the vast majority of people cheer for the pirates (another that comes to mind is the relatively recent thread about TPB servers going down then popping right back up), then you also have threads like this, one of the largest threads in the Hot Deals -> Free Stuff section.

But then on the other hand when someone in the General Gaming section mentions game torrents, piracy, or slips up in some way they get roasted like a Thanksgiving turkey.

Just something random I've noticed. :)
