Funny Craigslist Ad

wow i didnt know how expensive NY is....i rent my entire basement apartment for $800 all inclusive...and its a 2 bdrm....i should move my house to NY so i can jack the price up lol

Yup, New York is crazy expensive. Boston is pretty bad too. I used to rent a closet sized room in Cambridge (urban suburb to Boston) near Harvard Square. My ~ 10x12' room used to cost me ~$850 /month without any utilities included. In the winter, after heat was factored in, this would often be above $1000...

Why where you paying for heat?

Any rig with a good OC and GPU in it should heat that size room just nicely.

My folding farm cuts my heat bill in 1/2 during the winter for the whole house.

I agree. I don't understand the *hate* given to iPhone users. Apple fanbois, yes, but not all iPhone users are Apple fanbois. Honestly, I rather room with an iPhone user than an iPad user, since I can actually understand how a tech savy person could want an iPhone, but find it tougher to understand why one would want an iPad, especially if he/she already had an iPhone or iPod touch.

PS I haven't owned any Apple products, ever, and hate the smugness of Jobs and his Jobsians... but the Gen 4 iPhone is definitely tempting.

Ditto.

I think they are just jealous. :p

I hate Apple fanboys too. I could not live in the same apartment as one.

Before I bought my first iPhone in 2007, I had never owned (or wanted to own) an Apple product. This is still the case.

The iPhone - however - despite its many flaws is still a very solid product, and the best phone I have ever used. I would conisder getting a Droid, Evo or a Black Berry (shudder)a significant downgrade.

The user interface is simply very intuitive and fast. I don't feel held back on the iPhone browser compared to using a desktop computer. I can't say the same for the Android browser. It feels clunky and unintuitive, and the few times I've used it, I've just wanted to give up and go find the nearest computer. I only very rarely have this urge with the iPhone.

I think the hate is based less on the product and more on the percieved smugness of Apple fans. I hate those smug - holier than thou - fucktards as well. Not everyone who owns an iPhone is like that, (though most people in line at the store on the launch day probably are).

When that occurs, it's a sure sign that the anti-fanboys really need to get a life.

I am capable of both having a life, and despising Apple and all they stand for. It doesn't take any time or effort at all actually, it's merely a state of mind.

Anybody who bases their living arrangements over electronic device preference is a giant douchenozzle.

It's his money.

I have to agree the Iphone is the only Apple product I have actually purchased (have had an earlier gen ipod given to me for Christmas), but the only reason I bought the Iphone was cause at the time nothing competed with it (at least on the AT&T network). Now in a few months when my contract expires probably either going to wait for Windows Mobile 7 phone or pick up one of the Samsung Galaxy phones even though I would love to get the HTC Evo but don't want to switch carriers seeing how I am still on my parents family plan and I only have to pay for the phone it self :D .

Basically the same reason the ipad was my first apple purchase. I couldn't find any tablet computer with the battery life of 8-10 hours, yet at the same weight and size as the ipad. After you jailbreak it (which is now completely legal to discuss, yeah) you can even do things like install proswitcher which makes the OS multitask in card view like my Palm Pre does. My one nitpick is the lack of an SD slot.

Holy poopy. My budget is 400 a month for a place. D:

hey i know what you mean, rented for a few years myself. sadly i have one of the best deals for what you get in my city...checked it out. i like being competitive so getting GOOD tenants isn't that hard. it sounds average until i tell the prospective tenants that they have heat, hydro, satellite tv and internet included....kinda seals the deal:)

So I e-mailed him to ask if he would take $4500 for it...

The iphone ad is greatness.

I asked him where he got the parts, because I don't know anything about computers and would like to build one of my own. Also, props on the price.

Let's see, I pay $513 / month for a house payment (includes taxes & insurance)
After all utilities, probably close to $1000 / month

what the hell mortgage is that? i pay about $850/month plus taxes and insurance brings it to around $1200/month. btw, i have a rate of 4.3% and my house is less than $200k. sorry, i find that hard to believe.

Craigslist guy:

I typically just buy the parts off the internet ... this particular computer most parts came from TigerDirect.com ... they usually have daily deals so if you wait for the right time you can accumulate parts pretty reasonably. The computer tower with intercooler system was the only pieces I had to track down from other websites because I wanted something with the WOW factor to impress people with. Came out pretty nicely I think, just need the money for other matters these days otherwise i would hang on to the computer longer. Well hope this helps. Good luck!
