Ant Colony Stuck In Scanner for 5 Years

by the way, what happens if you put a mirror in a scanner?

or a copier for that matter? anyone ever done that?

Wanna see some really freaky stuff... point a web cam hooked up to a computer with a CRT at the CRT and watch what happens.

Last time I did this was with a little cheapo digital camera that could do live video through the USB cord with the included software.

It totally freaked out the recording software.. making a swirling continous mirror image type thing.

If I put the camera close enough to the screen, it would freak out and make the whole system lock up.

No sure if it does the same thing if you use a system with a LCD since the refresh is not done the same way.

Wow I thought the HOCP guys were all of a fairly high IQ? But some have missed the obvious on this one..

Surely timelapse wont show an object as mobile as an ant when your time frame is 1 frame per week for 5 years...

I believe that would be the situation from reading the text along with the video. He would have shot about 10 seconds of video, if he used 24 fps for eg, about 52x5=260 frames.

His editing has panned across that 10 seconds of video several times, thats why the video is longer than 10 seconds, each ant would be visible for 1/24th of a second.

Thats why you dont see any ants...

5 years of moving shit.... I get more joy looking at my own shit 1 to 2 times a day going down the toilet, you don't see me taking a pic of it. Or should I?

I just threw an old scanner I had at an ant hill in my yard.

was way cooler than that video.

I got a hearty laugh out of this.

"Here is a timelapse video of an ant farm in my scanner. Note: No ants are actually visible, so you basically have to take my word for it. Also, without ants it's pretty boring."

The idea was cool, but dang did that video suck. 5 years and he made a 2 min video. I wanted some real good pictures, of the entire colony. And did he throw plants in there every once and awhile or something?

This.
