Samsung 305t+

+1 true, I totally agree with you, LG needs to do better in QC and have a different type of anti glare coat, something that does get the job done and doesnt stand out as much. I love S-IPS... and since I really need a 30" for some work I do, this PVA panel came as close a less problems compared to the newer IPS panels. I dont do too much color critical work, so I'm good to go :)

No, its not the sparkle effect, but yes I do notice that as well on the Dell unlike on the Samsung where its barely noticeable, but the Dell monitor LOOKS less cheap, but the Samsung FEELS less cheap than the Dell even thou it does not look it.

GAHHHHHHHHHH I have them side by side and can not decide if I can live with the input lag, as the color shift is something I can live with.

Is 30ms of lag acceptable or not..... Bah. That being said if input lag was not an issue, purely on technical reasons, I prefer the Samsung

No surprise really. The 30" LG panel are notorious for poor screen uniformity, they get lambasted almost every time a new 30" gets released (recently Dell 3008 and NEC 3090) because that is when they get the most attention, but the old ones are no better. I bought a 3007-HC and returned it and gave up on 30" panels (I don't like PVA) and instead went with a NEC 2490WUXiSV.

I think my HP LP3065 has the same panel as the Dell 3007-HC. It has visually perfect uniformity, although a calibrator might say different. It also has flawless gradients. Something I rarely see in other displays. It may be necessary to wait a year or so after a new panel comes to market. Monitors seem to get better after the mfg has time to fix the initial problems.

yes both the lp3065 and the 3007wfp-hc both have the same LG panel... I'm going to wait till next year for the newer S-IPS panels to come out for 30" :D

Does the 305t+ have a scaler? I can't seem to find this information anywhere. I'd want to connect my ps3 to the monitor on the second dvi port and that won't be at the native resolution of the monitor.

Also, what happens when you play games at a resolution != than the native one?

Thanks.

The input lag is very high on this, correct? And no HDCP!

It's a good thing when a monitor doesn't have HDCP. Nobody wants HDCP. It's a waste of money and resources. If everyone would have agreed with me to not buy HDCP devices or media then we wouldn't be in the whole "do the film companies allow me to play BD on my computer?" -problem.

actually with the 305t+ there is ONLY ONE DVI port... and as far as I know it doesnt have a scaler.. but when I do make it at a resolution other than its native.. it does look pretty good... but for sure no scaler is there....

If other resolutions work, then it must have a scaler - for ex. the HP LP3065 doesn't have a scaler and it doesn't display other resolutions than the native one, and it has 3 dvi ports :) Great! :)

I saw your images on the first page of the thread and I had the impression the 305t+ had 2 dvi ports , if it has only one, it's out for me.
Thanks for the reply.

yes sorry it only has one :( I think the Nvidia video card is doing the scaling for me, that is why I can see all resolutions on this monitor...

got mine, love it!

i miss the media card reader my 2408 had and all the extra imputs but you need dual link dvi to run this so your not going to see many imputs unless its for pip or split screen or something

I have had a Samsung 305T Plus for a few months and it's pretty much as good as it can get imo. Great colors, sharp text, no detectable lag, input or otherwise and zero backlight bleed.

Just the resolution is an issue for me. 2560x1600 makes things to damn tiny! lol

I think 30" is to big in some ways, need a good 24"-26" as well for gaming and normal stuff.

Anyway Samsung 305T Plus gets thumbs up.

(Plus) means Samsung added or fixed HDCP, fixed all minor issues, improved circuitry, the panel grade and fixed reported input lag issues on some older models.

Thumbs up.

You will get used to the size and probably the text size as well, give it a week or two :)

(Plus) also means wide gamut and I doubt they got rid of the input lag (seems to be part of the overdrive techniques used to speed up S-PVA panels) but if you have any measurments that'd be nice.

Anyway congratz :)

Just an update... was using nvidia's beta drivers 185.68 and there was a section for hdcp compatibility, and the Samsung 305T+ is HDCP compliant!

I want to update this thread, my 305T + has crapped out on me, been using it since aug 2008. I have alot of vertical pinstripe lines in the center of my screen. Now im off to look for a new 30" monitor, im really dissapointed in the build quality, mean while my friend which has my apple cinema 30" says its still going strong.

Yeah; I am glad to say I dodged this bullit. I thought seriously about buying one, but I found a lot of reviews about Samsung's total lack of product or warantee support. It is a drag, because this was the only 30" display that did not have issues with white glow or grainy AG coating. Samsung refused to do anything about the stands on some of they larger monitors also.

You got a couple of years out of it, so it is not a total loss, but still displays should last as long 2 computers or 4 years at least.

Dave

Yeah Dave, we pay so much for a large 30" display we should at least get 4 years out of it :( Samsung support seemed nice, but all they said is I will receive a call from someone else regarding the RMA procedure, I have yet to receive that call, lol.

Call them back and chase. One thing I've noticed about customer support is that if it is outside their normal workscope they will be loathe to do any extra work. You have to keep bugging them until something happens.

I have heard too many horror stories about Samsungs RMA service, I think I will just sell my faulty 30" for parts and just get a new 30".
