what a terrible ending....if you can even call it an ending...I mean wth. Enjoyed the game but man what a way to just take all my hardwork and shove it.

Yeah, ending sucked balls. But man I did love the game, played through it 3 times in a row.

Agreed as well. Game was awesome but the ending stunk. Same with the Zombie Island DLC. General Knoxx DLC had crawmerax which totally kicked ass!

Maybe they were sleazy and wanted us to get DLC because of the poor ending rather than keeping a good thing going.

After a group of us beat the game my friend randomly typed into google "Worst video game ending ever" and borderlands was the first hit.

True story.

General Knoxx is a bit more fun for endgame type stuff, check it out for sure.

lol so you finished the main story line i take it? yeah thats pretty much why i havent played the game in months.. first time through im like ya this games awesome.. hmm maybe ill go finish the main story line now.. get to the last guy and boom its over an im sitting there going.. are you serious? this is the end of the main story line? WTF!!!

I take it no one else even got hit battling the tentacle vagina mouth monster. I played as Mordecai (sniper) and it seriously took only 3 shots and 2 grenades and I was like, thats it...seriously?! I haven't even gotten around to replaying it since December. I kind of wish I had rebought it during the Steam sale just to play with some of my Steam friends and the DLC.

play in co-op with both of you at high level then its harder.. all enemy character strengths are based on your's and if some ones playing with you..
it took me and my cousin about 15 minutes to kill it with 1 level 39 and 1 level 50 character in co-op.. but it was still boring as shit because i found the perfect spot to hide where it couldnt hit me at all so i just kept firing rocket after rocket into it and sniping it the shit out of it..

The ending was kind of cool in a since that the game lead you to believe that you would find great treasure from the Vault but found nothing....it was a big "fooled you" moment. But yeah the ending was terrible. Thankfully the Knoxx expansion should wash the bitter taste out of your mouth.

If they wanted a better conclusion, they should have just done something like Old Town with the Lance and aliens both trying for the vault and some superweapons get dropped in the fight as it continues. I mean a rectangular type of shooting gallery, with different elevations, instead of paths or tunnels. Maybe the most elite bandits get sent in as well.

The arena missions were more of a stand and applaud moment than the boss, for sure.

Did anyone get the Claptrap ninja assassin ending?

Does anything come of that? Are you able to fight Claptrap later on?

I had a HDD go bad that had my steam directory on it so I lost all my borderlands stuff. My friends had pretty much quit playing by then so I never got much farther into it past the ending.

Worth going through it again in SP for the DLC and stuff? Or is anyone else still playing through on a regular basis?

Your save games are actually stored in your documents folder, so if you didn't lose that drive you're still good as far as that goes.

I've just gotten into the DLC since getting all 3 for $10 during the last Steam sale. Its been pretty fun, expect the 2nd one is kinda lame.

Oh, and I agree - worst ending ever to the main campaign.

Agreed. It is a horrid ending. But, that does not stop me from still playing coop with friends who just picked it up.

Terrible ending, but as much as it sucked it was still an enjoyable game. I don't think it was worth full price though.

I think I just hid behind a rock spire and would peak out the left side and shoot with a machine gun...I don't think the boss ever hit me with anything, I wasn't even sure it was attacking me.

Heh. The ending was terrible. What I found hilarious though was that after what... 20-30 hours of gameplay... there's a fast travel station at the vault monster's feet.

WTF. Here I thought no one has been here in 200 years, and someone goes and builds a fast travel station right there. Where was this 3 hours into the game?

Just ranting because the entire continuity of the entire story was ruined by a single fast travel station in this remote, dangerous part of the world.

Sorta like being on a lost deserted isle for 3 years, then finding out there's Starbucks in the middle of it.

The ending didn't really bother me. At least 2K didn't say they will give us the real ending in episodic form and then not actually finish it.

The people who were at the vault 200 years prior built it ;). You know you can't fast travel to a place if you haven't been there before. The people there before were just way too lazy to walk all the way back.. duh lol.

I think the steam sale stimulated interest in this game. I didnt buy it on steam because I didn't feel like playing through again...then a couple of days ago I noticed my saved game still on my comp. Ug, I should have bought the DLC...

I got the retail version right after it came out, spent probably 10hrs on the game with Mordecai and put it down for a bit. Picked it up during the Steam sale, dumped in my save game...just finished the game a few minutes ago, yeah the ending was pretty shitty. I got killed by the creature a few times (him lobbing the purple dart things up and over the alien rock formations would hit me). Cheapsauce. Had Mordecai up to...lvl 32 I believe with like 500 something health and 500 something shield with over 100 on the charge speed, real fast. Ended up figuring out you could shoot the tentacles and after so much damage they would go away and stay gone for awhile, leaving its only attack that charge beam. (Only played SP - never played co-op)

Considering the size of my backlog I will be moving onto other games for the time being, I will eventually come back and play through BL again and do the DLCs but right now a) I want to play with the new engineer toys in TF2 and b) again my backlog is so ridiculous it's not even funny. ;) Great game, horrible ending. I would have rather seen the character I picked get back on the bus, rejoin the other 3 and get the hell back out of the town. THAT would have been a more satisfying ending to me. :) Actually that would have been pretty cool. :D

borderlands was only fun for me with a group. and even then, got old after awhile... berserker class was reasonably fun though

Yeah its only fun online or with friends and even then it gets boring (I've played through the game 10 or more times) so I guess it gets boring for me now because I have every mission memorized, I don't need the GPS and I always rush right through everything

Good news is General Knoxx is tweeting (so gay) again from the future so maybe there is a new DLC coming soon, he was on there tweeting before General Knoxx was released...doing build up or whatever

I normally host an online game if you guys want to join. I'm 35 Hunter right now and have some pretty a pretty nice scavanger mod for loot.

Hit me up if you want to know room name.

I thought Lucky built those. He doesn't look 200 years old.

This game had good gameplay, with a weak/no story. Seemingly the opposite of Fallout 3. The gameplay makes it fun in co-op though. Played about 30 hours and beat the main game.

I love Fallout 3 for both gameplay and story.

For this...I daresay I can't remember the last time I played something where there was barely any story to speak of but the gameplay was so damned good and addictive that I just didn't care.

Two completely different and great games IMO. :)

yeah ending was stupid but I still like the game a lot. if it wasnt for some of the glitches like vehicle getting stuck and some clipping issues the game would be a 9.5 for me. factor in how much those glitches pissed me of at the time though and I lower my overall score to 8/10. its certainly the best 10 bucks I have ever spent on a video game.
