Fearing I already know the answer to this question (NO!), I have to ask it anyway before I go without my box for God knows how long while an RMA replaces my sticks of RAM. A breaker popped the other night, killing power to my machine. Normally, there's no side effect, but the chamber wasn't empty this time in Computer Russian Roulette and my machine has been crashing psuedo-randomly ever since. I've run the Windows Memory Diagnostic (something bad this way comes!) and memtest+, both reporting errors. Memtest+ gave me the address of the failure and it appears localized to a single bit.
So is there any way to mark that block as bad and move on? I've never heard of a way, but you can do it for a hard disk, hoping there's been some discovery for RAM chips.
