So steam stole my time and money again yesturday (i'm sueing).
Anyway, I got dead space.
But, every time I continue or load a game on any difficulty (easy, medium, hard) everytime I load the damned game it goes back to medium again?

Is there any way to change the difficulty back to hard with console commands or cheat codes or anything!?
 
Once you start a game. It ask you to select what difficulty. Once you start.. and save your game.. Its locked.. Have to start over if you want it on Easy or Hard.

I thought so too. But I started on hard. And now everytime I load the game and go to the next save point and save, when I go to load it again, it says "medium" on the save file.

Hmm idk then. Possible bug with your save. Mine shows hard.
 
That's odd, mine is showing the same thing too. I started on hard and the save shows medium. Hadn't noticed until you said something.

I DID have a boatload of trouble with the mouse and long loading times though. Turning off vsync solved funky mouse movements but made aiming really really slow. I changed it to windowed mode and that solved those issues.

Edit: Just to add. I've played the game twice before (a long time ago though), once on medium and once on hard. Even though this says medium, I think it may be on hard.

I just tried on easy, and it does the same thing! Yeah, I had the mouse trouble too! Yours is the steam version is it? It would have really laggy mouse movements in the main menu. I tried fiddling with the sensitivity but that just made it laggy and sensitive. I didn't think to turn off v-sync! In game its less noticable. I'm guessing it a problem with the game then?

Dion, out of intrest, is yours the steam version???

That would be helpful! Steam or disk??? well it doesn't matter really, as it should be the same, as long as it's the most recent patch. Damnit, I don't want to go to EA. They suck with customer service. I remember what it was like trying to get spore to work with the addons for someone. Apparently it was my fault or something because the runes weren't in my favour.

Steam copy.. Checked problem. Happens on PC.. fine on my ps3 tho.

As you have the ps3 version, and i've only just got it. Is there an easy way of telling what the difficulty level is, I mean game wise? Like is there more ammo and health packs in the easier modes? Or is it just that monsters take more hits?
 
if you choose continue instead of just directly loading a save your difficulty will go to medium.

I told EA about this right after the game was released but obviously its of little concern to them.

Damnit. Once it's done theres no going back is there? I've already done the first 5 stages and don't want to go back through them when I just did them yesturday.
I've have problems with every single EA game i've bought in the last few years. I can't even finish mirrors edge on the ps3 because it crashes on the last level. Spore had me editing registry entries to tell EAs own downloader that it was installed to install add on content. etc. But theres really nothing in it for them to fix it. It's not like we're going to pay again if they did. Maybe contacting steam would help? But they'd probably just say to contact EA, and EA would reply 3 months later that I bought a steam game and to contact steam, or that I didn't have the most recent graphics card driver.
 
Played around with the save file. 0 = easy 1 = medium 2 = hard. 3 = impossible? The basic information is easy enough to edit, but it had checksums at the end. With the edited file, it loaded the save file, but said it was "cleared" and onloading said it was damaged, and couldn't be used. which means it shall be alot more time consuming than just playing the game again from the beginning. godamnit! Why can't EA put as much effort into getting the games right as they do into security and DRM???
