Google Has Nap Pods

Foxconn needs to order a few thousand of these for the factory floors

I had a coworker one time who was on some medication that made him sleepy. He would crawl under his desk, pull some boxes up to him to block the view, and make a pillow out of his coat. He would snore so loud it would disrupt other peoples work.

Google+ Humans= Aliens. D=

btw here's another pic from the other side, definitely looks better in this pic

I really wish I was able to go work for Google. Nap Pods, what other goodies do they have for their employees?

Personally, I'd be asking for the ddr and hacked itg cabs in the corner somewhere ;)

Amen to that! haha Good to see fellow ITG/DDR player :D

I wonder how much Google even spends on those "hibernation pods" anyway... Ooo
I'm not surprised if Google even makes Cryogenic pods later on..

For whatever reason, that thing reminds me of some old blue-haired old lady getting her hair done.

Oh Google, you're turning out to be this decade's IBM...

See you on the unemployment line!

I want one. I don't know why. But I suddenly think I need one.

why didnt he snap a pic when he walked by and female legs were sticking out? :(

But if you dream about anything apple haven't thought of yet they lobotomise you, and later "invent" it all themselves. Then they find out you were being nostalgic about how great life was in the 1980's...

Sadly enough when I really think about it, I would never ever use one of these things because I don't trust my coworkers enough not to mess with me when I'm sleeping.

In all fairness they shouldn't trust me either.

I have actually talked to someone that worked for Google (this was a number of years ago) and they have many "incentive" programs in-house to help their workers produce. Their basic thing for work, work the hours you want, when you want. As long as you get your work product done in the given timeframe and are productive they do not care. Apparently, they also have a full lounge with video games, fooseball, ping-pong, billards, etc. And a full in-house cafeteria where everything is free and you can take as much as you want. Hell, wanna work late and bring the family in for dinner so you can have dinner with them every night while you work.... NO PROBLEM!!!

All the above is true. They are the best employer in the world. I would love to work for google but I hear they get on average over 5000 applications a week.

They wouldn't be good for someone like me. I have sleep apnia and I am not about to take my CPAP to work. When people see me sleeping without my CPAP they freak out thinking I am dying or something. And sleeping on my back is tha worste position for me.

What if you like to sleep on your side or stomach?

They you won't like this as much?

Anyways, it's better to sleep on your back. Sleeping on your side can make your face unsymmetrical, but more importantly isn't usually as good for your back/neck. Sleeping on your stomach is the worst, but I agree it can be very comfy.

I think about this sometimes while at work, and I'm glad Google understands the reality of humans. Why does a workplace (at least in America) expect a person to have full output for 8 hours or 12 hours? How many animals do something for that long day in day out? Humans are animals too and we should be able to function like them. We need to vary our activities and we need to rest periodically, not just for the 6 hours that our jobs "gives us" between shifts.

Its the irony that we set the computers at work to sleep, hibernate and screen saver, but fire the people for closing their eyes.......

I saw one of these in one of the Savannah School of Art and Design buildings. Students could come use it to chill out. It's pretty cool. :)

they need them cause Google works you 14+ hour days in slave labor..lol

At google They try to make the people who work there comfortable ebcuase they actually have dormitories and live at their job. They do computer programming and have very long hours.... They make great money but also live at their jobs and have no life for most of the year. They have to meet deadlines which means working 12 hour or longer shifts.... And at all different hours. get tired take a nap get some food.... Need exercise there sia gym on campus. Everything is 24 hours. Its a misserable existence working like that so they make their workers comfortable by giving them 6 figure incomes and insane accommodations. We will give you slave labor but make you comfortable in return.... Is it fair?

Read on Wikipedia that Google pays far low the industry standard and they make like $35,000 a year. So its more like communism. slave labor, long 14+ hour days but they make you feel comfy while you are there living at your job. Welcome to hell!:D
