Got the Corsair Obsidian 800D, Its HUGE!

No, the original production runs had a few small problems, that it sounds like they quickly and efficiently moved to fix. And, given redbeard's response, it sounds like that original run has all been sold, and I'm sure Corsair took care of anyone that ran into such problems, if they needed to.

Yeah, the problems were all fixed by the November 1st, 2009 ship date.

Man, finally got mine, I love this case.

Any idea why UPS claims the package is 70 pounds? Didn't feel like it. The case itself is like 40, and all it had was foam and cardboard around it, definitely not 30 pounds extra. o_O;

What's a good air cooler for this case, if we are going to use the airflow direction as discussed above (rear intake, back top intake, front top 2 fans exhaust)?

I see a lot of people going with the H50, but what if I want to stick with air? Any good CPU coolers that are quiet and would work well with this case's airflow and not block the RAM slots? I want to get a Corsair RAM fan just because it's cool lol.

I'm thinking about the Noctua NH-D14, would it still block the RAM slots if the 120mm fan is moved toward the back of the case?

Thanks for the suggestion, I was looking at that cooler also but it seems it's only compatible with Intel? I forgot to mention that I am on the AM3 platform.

That RAM fan will have to go when using a large HSF. Most people go with the H50 because it looks better and the case was designed for it.

Is the ram fan wider than the 4 slots of ram? Or can you shift it a little to the right when mounting it?

My situation is a bit different with this case. It's currently my file server and has 8 1TB drives in it setup as raid 6. I'll be adding another 6 more drives to it soon.

I really don't need cpu cooling, and I dont have a video card in it. My main goal is cool the hard drives and have some good airflow in it.

I somehow have to get better air on the bottom hard drive cage below the hot swap bays. I have 5 1/4 to 3 1/2 drive rails to connect more hard drives on the top portion, I could easily stick a couple of fans in front of those to keep them cool. My main concern is the bottom cage and overall airflow.

I'm sticking with the stock Intel HSF as I'm not overclocking it at all.

Do you already have a fan mounted on the bottom hard drive cage? Since you can only put 2 hard drives there one 120mm fan should be enough.

think I'm going to pull the trigger on the 700D. Any insight on ideal cable lengths? I'll have all 6 HD bays full, as well as two cd drives in the top two bays. Was thinking 24" cables for the drives, and 18" ones for the hard drives, giving me room to stealth them...but wondering if I couldn't get away with 18" and 12" ones?

Is anyone using aircooling in this case having troubles with GPU temps? My 5870 is idling at 59C

My GPU never got too hot, with or without the side panel, but with the side panel on my CPU got a little warm. Just too restrictive airflow, mainly on the intake side. The single-PCB GTX 295 has excellent cooling, though, and part of the reason my CPU is so high is likely due to the fact that half the air the card exhausts INTO the case instead of outside. That's why my CPU temps are better after removing the side panel. There just aren't nearly enough intakes to make this case adequate for a highly overclocked system if you're just going to cool with air. That was the most critical and one of the most feared observations a bunch of us made before this case hit the market, when all we had were preview pics. We all said, "where's it gonna get enough intake from???" I don't intend the final product to be air cooled, though. I just haven't been able to set aside enough cash to finish my loop. Too many stupid STEAM SALES taking all my money!!!!

The point is, taking the side panel off resulted in a 10c drop for my CPU temp. You may have to run your case like that or suffer higher fan speeds until you can watercool your GPU. High end stuff gets hot if it doesn't get enough air.

Oh, the CPU isn't really a problem. I'm going to get a push/pull on my H50 intaking air from the back fan. It's just that I don't see any way to cool down the GPU unless I buy an Arctic Accelero or something.
