Top 10 Stupid Hollywood Hackers

Nothing from Sneakers eh?
Cattle mutilations are up.

You guys need to ease up on ID4 a little bit. The movie gave us Will Smith and got rid of the Fresh Prince.... not a bad trade imo.
No, "Six Degrees of Separation" gave us Will Smith and he was less gay in it. Yes, I know what I just said.

Speaking of Smith, what about "Enemy of the State"? Was that one of the good ones?

What about Office Space, where they infected a pc with a worm that rounded all the transactions up to the nearest cent. I loved that movie.
They got the idea from Superman III. Richard Pryor--best hacker ever.

Yea i know there was even a line in the move that said "oh like superman 2". But they way they went about it was pretty anticlimatic

that is entirely likely, as it was developers and not hackers. of course getting the transactions to actually work and be secret would be problematic but it could be done.

I read somewhere some years ago that a group of people was complaining about a hacking scene in Matrix Reloaded because it was too realistic

That actually has some merit. Instead of just typing something cheesy like "hack C:\gibson", she used tools that actually exist, like nmap. She uses nmap to scan the system for open ports, see's that it's running an SSH server, and then uses a fictional exploit called "sshnuke" to exploit and gain access to it. That's infinitely more realistic than most other hacker movies.

In Superman III, not only did Pryor give himself a huge paycheck, he also hacked into a weather satellite, thereby changing the weather. Awesome.

This is funny, though the comments about wrong IP's and such are dumb imo. Movies need to have fake IPs, fake phone numbers, etc. If they don't stupid people will spam these and bad things will happen. :) Btw, Sandra Bullock doesn't even look like a hacker. Hehe, on the picture she looks like she's cracking open her CS and going to pwn teh n00bz.

We're well aware that the IP addresses are fake and they are for a reason. Thanks.

Good point. Like the 555 phone number. Which they make some good fun of in Last Action Hero (I think that was the one).

WTF, how could they not mention "The Core"?? Where this dude sends a message to everyone's Internetz with one keystroke and activates unlimited long distance on a cell phone by whistling into the microphone - http://alltopmovies.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/theodore-donald-finch-core.jpg

Agreed. I think war games made the list for the retarded ending.

What about AntiTRUST :)

Love Hackers. It was the first DVD I bought when I finally got a player. I like The Net too. But I have a [H]on for Sandra Bullock back then.
