Hey I've just flashed my evga 8800GT 512MB into a EVGA 9800GT 512MB SC because of the temperature of the evga 8800gt was not even cool to deal with.(hehe get it it wasn't... w/e) Besides that, the point is that when i play games such as TF2 it freezes at random points. I can't Alt + Tab but I can Ctrl + Alt + Del.(I have Windows 7 BTW) So since i have windows 7 it sends me to a menu that i can choose from. When i press cancel or Task Manger it sends me back to my desktop. But i see my TF2 still running. I click back onto it. It slowly comes back. Then it freezes again and then it starts artifacting then freezes the whole computer.

Though the GPU's are basically the same, the bios may have different memory timings setup for the 9800. This may be the cause of your problem.

There are enough differences between an 8800gt and 9800gt that it isn't possible to flash. I would just put your stock back on and get a better cooler.

I fixed the problem, I just needed to underclock it i guess and it works flawlessly without any crashes/freezes/artifacts
