I recently grabbed an i5 750 and a Prolimatech Megahalems and I'm wondering what kind of temps you guys are getting with this cpu on air because mine are a little high.

Running a 2000rpm 87cfm Scythe Ultra Kaze as an exhaust fan with a 2000rpm 60cfm Antec as an intake I'm getting ~75C with IBT and a few degrees lower with Prime95, while topping out at about 65C in Crysis.

I've got it running at 4.2ghz @ 1.375v vcore, 1.25v qpi/vtt, 1.9v pll and 1.12v pch.

It's just that I hear people pushing the vcore to over 1.4 on air and I really don't see how you can do that without hitting some uncomfortably high temperatures.

temps look about right for running IBT.. thermal temp is 100C so you have plenty of headroom..

My ambient room temperature is around 80F / 26.67C. Clocked at 160 x 21 (~3.3GHz), my CPU hovered around 70-75C with IBT. Same heatsink, but the fan used is an Antec fan that came with my Antec Solo case, 3-speed setting set on low speed. Case fan is a Scythe S-Flex 120mm, whatever was recommended on SilentPC. Core at 1.2875v, Vtt at 1.20V, and didn't touch anything else besides manual memory timings and voltages.

I'll give your settings a try. I don't think it'll fare well for me.

How did you get IBT to run 50 times? The readme says to limit it to 20. I remember I tried setting it to 100 and the program would crash after <10 times, but setting it to 20 it would run fine.

Honestly I just typed in 50 next to 'Times to Run' and hit 'Start'. Same for the 500 runs it did the night before when I went to bed.

190 x 20 (3.8GHz). I couldn't boot to desktop successfully with 200 x 20. I had to relax my timings a bit to 9-9-9-27 (before it was 7-8-7-24), raise Vtt to 1.21V, Vcore to ~1.40V. Similar settings with psilence, changed a lot of Autos to Manuals.

The temperatures maxed out at 79C.

Edit: Idle temps are the same as before I went from 3.33GHz to 3.8GHz... around 37-42C. I was playing around with AHCI and the service in charge of it was having a fit and was using up 20% of my CPU.

What's your ambient temp? Without it one cannot say if your CPU is running too hot

Current setup (still lowering voltages):

i5 750 @ 4ghz (189x21)
GSkill ECO 4gb @ 1.4v (1512mhz 7/8/7/24/1t)
VTT: 1.2v
VCORE: Normal + 0.05v with LLC level 2 = 1.312 under load in cpu-z
PCH: 1.08v
PLL: 1.82v
EIST: enabled
C1E: enabled
Megahalems cooler with 2xScythe GT1450

Ambient: 22c
Idle: 29c
Prime95 Small FFT: 58c
IBT: 64c

I'm not really sure what my ambient temp is. I'm thinking its around 20-25 in my room. Those are some pretty great temps you're getting at 1.4v, maybe I should get a second fan for my cooler as well.
