Another reason to go broke (and piss the wife off :) )

Not a bad deal. Got a link?

Yeah no joke, too bad I don't have a MC within 4 hours, I would love to build a new system with this :)

Absurd indeed. And here I was, planning on taking a trip up to MC tomorrow anyway.

...Guess I'll be in for 1.

If anyone would like to PP me the cost + tax + shipping + gas money / time I'll pick one up since im like 10 mins away. My cost estimate would be 199.99 + 17 + 12 + 15 = 244 ish

or maybe ill just buy it and list it in the FS section...

Great deal, but the fact that these are Socket 1156 only is pretty fail, IMO.

Yeah if anyone is willing to get a spare I'll pay you to ship me one :D Or I could drive 4 hours to houston :p

Just so you guys know, these will not OC any better then the normal locked ones. It will be easier but thats about it. There are not binned, or special picked in any way. These are also still 45nm.

That said, its still a good deal. I think Im still going to go with the i5 650 or 655k for mine though since its just for benching.

your definition of "better" is different from mine :D

wow 6% sales tax must be nice.

i7 on 1156......wtf? :(

When did this happen?

Does it still have all the same features as the 1366 socket? Just can be used on cheaper boards?

because some of us near mc have to ignore every newegg deal

Oh the taxes. The taxes! :(

I'm debating weather or not this is worth the $40 or so premium over an i5 750 for me. As far as I can tell the K series don't really offer much in superior overclocking, just slightly easier to achieve what non-K series can.

Hell, getting on a Greyhound bus to Denver (closest MC that I know of) round trip, staying a night in Denver, and coming back the following day with a few meals in between would still end up costing less than the original $399.99 price for this at $199.99 + all that... :)

Myself being an i7 920 owner, I can tell you that it'd be nice to have the CPU multiplier unlocked rather than only being able to fudge with the BCLK. Primarily because I'd like to run my RAM at its full speed rather than 75 MHz or so short.

Ok...I'm finally going to need to bite on a new Intel Quad
Have a birfday coming up in a couple weeks so my gift wish list will have one item on it to make gift selection easier for the wife
Thank God the NEO store is 15 minutes away

Thanks OP!

I would rather have paid a bit more for one of these had they been binned.

x58 supports triple-channel ram (x55 only dual-channel)

x58 has more native PCIe lanes (40 as opposed to 24), but the PCIe controller is on the processor in 1156.

x58 supports officially supports 1066mhz ram out of the box (x55 officially 1333mhz).

Both support TurboBoost, though if i'm not mistaken, x55 actually boosts a little higher on single-threaded apps.

Dang, my dad just went to san jose yesterday, I should have went with him and gone to the microcenter store at santa clara.

not to mention 1366 supports the 6 core procs..

Remember, the i7-875K is cheaper than the i7-870. The 875K is probably just a good deal all around.

Anyone walked out of the store with the processor at that price yet? It's unadvertised in the revision ad for June (at least the online ad anyway).

A few of the guys on SlickDeals have picked up one in store already. Better take the ad with you if you've got it since it is a misprint.

Been checking the slickdeals thread and someone claimed the San Jose store isn't honoring the price...even though it isn't open yet.

^^^ yeah I've been following it too, it seems like its a nationwide price and not a mistake (at least not unintentional). some people even said they have the price tag label with the $199.99 price too. well too bad I can't get off work until late in the afternoon, otherwise i'd go now and snatch one.

Sigh ... that's too bad ... my business trip where there was a local MC ended last Friday

where is this price advertised? If I can get a copy of the ad I'll go pick one up just for S&G

Yeah people are now chiming in that it is indeed advertised at that price and they will stand by it. Too bad it doesn't qualify for the $40 off if you pair it with a motherboard. Would go great with a GA-P55M-UD4.

Just got back from the Paterson store (3.5% sales tax ftw) with my 875k. They were marked $299 but...

I said, "So, yeah, I saw that these were supposed to be $199."

The guy said, "Oh, right, we haven't put up the new sign. I'll make sure it rings at $199."

They had 18 left as of ~45 minutes ago.

Just picked one up. The sales dude said they have had them at this price since the 1st of June and they are not going anywhere anytime soon.

They had a little over 40 in stock at my store.

Not going anywhere anytime soon as in pricing will stay at $199 for a really long time? Or are they having trouble moving product or something else?

Btw, what store did you go to?

@fochkoph As in the will carry them at that price for awhile. I go to the northern virginia location.

They sell these things bellow cost, so they really try to push accessories and extended warranties on you. lolz

This deal is the same as the 930's and the 920's before that.

199.00 is the regular MC price.
