BFG getting out of video card business

I've got 3 BFG video cards... I've purchased BFGs for their warranty and trade-up offers. For the first time ever, I have a BFG card that went bad. They informed me that they are getting out of the video card business and the trade-up offers are canceled and the best they can do is send me a refurb after I send them my card.

This is disappointing. Any recourse for BFG owners?

Really I don't know what you would expect. No company is going to send you a new card from an rma. You should be happy that they didn't just say screw you, we aren't in the video card business anymore, or cut their customer service lines and email.

They are still in business though. They better keep up their corp image or they will lose the rest of their businesses.

I have a BFG card. Anything online about this change? I would like to find out more.

If BFG - the corporation itself - is not going out of business, then why did they send me the following letter when I RMA'd my graphics card?

BFG Technologies, Inc. is winding down and liquidating its business. Unfortunately our major supplier would not support our business. As a result we are returning your graphics card without being able to repair or replace it.

Kind of explains the rash of BFG products on several surpluss websites. Liquidating all the remaining new products, including the reserved refurbished RMA parts.

Same thing happened to me last year. In short start talking to your credit card agency, many have protection against things like this.

Back when my powercolor (I think) x1950xtx died I replaced it with an equivalent money wise card, big upgrade but the same dollar amount at ~$300. The card was under warranty but no corporate offices to be found this side of the pond. So I took the fight to the credit card, I had purchased the new card with the same card I purchased the old one with (amex clear if it matters). Anyway I explained what happened, they looked into it and refunded me the cost of the new video card, making me a very happy amex customer again.

I am very sorry to hear this happened to BFG, I heard lots of posts here and elsewhere that they had outstanding customer service. One of my BFG260's I am running today is a BFG, actually it's what I got when the other card above died.

I sent in my dead 8800GTX about 2 months ago and they gave me a GTX260. I'm sure I was probably one of the last ones to be able to do that.
