I was going to pretend that this article was interesting enough on its own to post but I have to admit, the accompanying photo was just too funny to pass up.

HP guts Palm like a fish, only wants the 'insides.' There were already announcements from HP about integrating WebOS into their upcoming tablets and printers but not the slightest interest in smartphones. As a matter of fact, there wasn't news about new smartphones from Palm's side after the acquisition either.

I didn't think about slates or tablets. I thought maybe the acquisition would somehow merge Palm technology with HP's iPAQ line. This should be interesting.

The caption on the photo is great!
Is HP doing Palm right?

As for the Smart phones, HP has tried in the past, they can't compete. Management will not fund the group enough. As with digital cameras, HP took the cheap route and tried to outsource it all before building a solid competence. So the products came out half-assed, which was a disappointment to not just customers, but to the employees themselves. HP employees cared and tried, but management tied their hands.

A day late and missing the update.

HP has clarified that the original statement may have been a bit misleading, and that they see WebOS powering tablets, web-connected printers, and smartphones.

Printers would also be interesting. I'm surprised that HP doesn't have anything similar to Epson's Artisan 800/900 line of touchscreen web-enabled device. My mom has an Artisan 800 and it's awesome. Put WebOS on it, and it'll fly.

This is the (hotlinked) picture from the article.

My HP C8180 has a touchscreen, DVD burner, pretty much all those features except fax. But my printing resolution is not quite as high. :p

Hahaha, great pic.

If I were going to buy a multi-function printer that scans, prints, does some form of photo editing, has wifi, etc, I would wait for a WebOS printer.

I'm a bit confused that nobody has thought about them perhaps not making phones and keeping the OS alive and basically perform like Google by providing the software platform for hardware makers. It's excellent software.

That is the best pic of seen in a long time, I just choked on my spit

I'm still using my HP rx3700 PocketPC daily. I've been nothing but pleased with it since day one. It's got a good enough camera for emergencies, WiFi, Bluetooth audio, Hell the only complaint I have is I can't find a new case for it now :D

it is like anything, if you get the low priced model, expect low priced features and quality.

not to be a rex defender b/c he was horrible, but cutler was just as bad...from this article..

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/289474-jay-cutler-vs-rex-grossman-you-be-the-judge-bear-fans

"In fact, lets look at Cutler's stats through the first nine games of this season versus Rex's stats through his first nine games of the 2006 season:
Jay: 2,353 yards, 14 touchdowns and 17 interceptions.
Rex: 2,095 yards 17 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
... Ouch.
Rex went 8-1 through his first nine game.
Jay has gone 4-5 through his."

and the best line of the article...."Let me be clear, I think that Jay is better than Rex, and Grossman did have the advantage of a great defense but the simple fact of the matter is, the Bears have continued their tradition of ruining someone who was otherwise thought of as a good quarterback."
