Although this video attempts to demonstrate the many obstacles you can overcome with Velcro, it seems to gloss over the fact that you will have ugly-ass strips of Velcro all over the places you want to put the iPad. Cool or FAIL?

Needs a poll, Steve. :p I vote win, or as win as it can been considering it is still an iPad in the end. This is definitely one of its best uses.

huh? you mean to tell me it doesnt hover when ur not holding it? you have to use velcro?

I'm not that cranky in life lately, but I am getting tired of ghetto car mods to accommodate tech gear. If you're going to spend that much on something... try a little harder? They also make more cost effective digital picture frames than the iPad. Not sure it was made to work well on a bike either... I'm sorry this person had this kind of money to blow on something.

Velcro everywhere = fail... Eventually all that velcro is going to attract a lot of fur, if you have pets of course.

People with ipads would never have pets that could shed on their black turtlenecks in the first place.

I think the implementation they showed was fail, but the idea itself of using the velcro is cool and potentially useful. Now, if only it was not an iPad...

Velco an Ipad next to a 200 degree open flame on the stove? Sure, its a great idea.

lame idea in that its not very useful or practical, ipad on window? come on.

but i thought it was a cool, well made video.

God help the person in the car if the air bags deploy in an accident. ipad FACE!

Yeah, kinda thinking that this was more of tounge in check deal than anything else. He stole my car idea though, I've actually working on a bracket mount for my tm2, that actually is useful.

I will pay more for velcro than I would for an Ipad.... and I won't pay very much at all for velcro.:D

Everyone who owns an iPad needs one of these shirts.

i got excited for a moment when he took the ipad to the stove.

i thought he was gonna fry the ipad in the pan.
i thought "yeah !!! burn it !! burn it in a fire ! ........... aw shucks".

As lame as this is, it's given me an idea of how to put my gps on the left side of the steering wheel.

It's bullshit. Anybody that's ever used stick-on velcro would never, never, ever hang $500 off it.

My thoughts exactly. You're going to trust 20 cents worth of velcro to hold an $800 ipad 3G?

The video wasn't bad, but the idea is more lazy than useful, so I vote lame. If you really want a car dock, mod up a car dock.

Apple will announce this voids the warranty in 3.................2....................

The words "iPad" and "cool" do not belong in the same sentence period.

So what happens when the airbag is deployed? It will get embedded into your forehead

I think that was a great idea. Especially the GPS and the picture frame ones. The motorcycle and stove ones not so much as the device could get damaged.

maybe not velcro, and maybe not the iPad, because of the reasons others have mentioned already, but the idea to stick a touchscreen/interface like this wherever you want is definitely one of the future applications I can see becoming more the norm.

We have the non-fuzzy side of velcro on the back of our cell phones, and a small fuzzy strip in between the speedo and the HVAC in the car. Makes a nice place to stick it, especially for viewing Google Maps stuff. And two fuzzy strips are on an island post in the kitchen where the charger cords are. Definitely convenient, and the size of the pads on the phones really don't affect size, pocketability or aesthetics.

I do this kind of thing with my mp3 player. Except, it's not velcro. I use those 3M double-sided tape that they sell for their hooks.

You need to use better velcro then. I have 3M dual lock holding together my entire conference table and the cabinets above it. I wouldn't think twice about using that to hold up a $500 pile of shit like the iPad.
