Preorder the Evo?

Anyone here pre-order the EVO? I went to Radioshack today and plucked down my $50 deposit to make sure I had a beautiful evo waiting for me on the 4th. Anyone else do the same thing? It's funny because I happen to be moving to Las Vegas at the end of the month. I was offered a job opportunity that was just too good to pass up. Anyway, there's no 4g here in SoCal but guess who does have 4g? Talk about meant to be. :D
 
I wish I could pre-order the Evo. I can't get one until July.
 
I'm waiting for any possible Evo price breaks before taking the plunge... but I won't wait too long. ;)

Congrats on the Vegas job! I work in Vegas 3-4 months out of the year and am looking to move there permanently by mid-2011 at the latest. Greatest city in the USA. Property can be had for damn near criminally low prices. Best of luck!!
 
My wife and I were going back and forth trying to decide if we wanted to get the evo right at launch or wait untill August 15th to get our very first smart phone. Soon after a good amount of research into the newest phones, we found out that our contract with Verizon actually doesn't end untill Decemeber 31, and we could get out of our contract and go with the Incredible for cheap this August staying with Verizon. I finally convinced my wife that we should go with the Evo during the launch June 4th. Despite facing 3 incompetent and unqualified "reps" from Sprint store and Radio Shack we are still going for the Evo, canceling 2 phone lines early and switching carriers and paying fees to bite the bullet. This Thursday we are going to Pre-Order at Best Buy and use our re-ward Zone card. Or we might go to a Sprint store in a different town someone told me had good service.

in short... My very first smart phone will be the EVO and I am STOKED. My wife and I have had the need for a smart phone for a very long time, finally there will be a phone that can display her work schedual. I am looking forward to a little Word Press / Affiliate Marketing action while I'm at my "real" job. :)

JUNE 4th countdown!
 
Paying all that money just to switch for a phone? You're crazy. Just buy a Droid off ebay and use it with your current plan until it ends in December then re-evaluate.

I went to Radio Shack yesterday and pre-ordered my own EVO! I'm super excited about the phone and also looking forward to a cheaper monthly rate. Currently I have been enjoying my Nexus One on AT&T but the girlfriend wants it. So I had no choice but to get an EVO for me :D
June 4th can't come soon enough!
 
Johnny78 - Gratz on the job. I currently live in Vegas, and have been seriously thinking of dropping AT&T for Sprint to get the EVO - I was kinda waiting to see how the new Iphone is going to turn out...my contract ends at the end of May - just in time for a nice change...hmm..LoL. Tempted to pop a deposit down myself...or see what Best Buy has in store for the launch.
 
Waiting for it to show up on EPRP and then I'll bite.
 
i just called sprint again last night because iam on a ERP family plan
and they assured me i will be able to activate it with this plan but i will have to pay the $10 fee per month i guess originally ERP people didn't have to but they changed that.

Thanks guys. I feel extremely blessed. My wife actually moved out to Vegas about 3 months ago. She's a professional actress and she's currently in the Phantom of the Opera production at the Venetian. I've been dying to join her out there but my job is here in Socal. I've been interviewing for several positions out there the last couple months however. I currently work in the finance industry but in the public sector. I was recently offered a job in the private sector out there that pays more than 10K more a year than I make now, plus they offered me a nice fat signing bonus. Anyway, I couldn't ask for more so it's time to pack up and head for the desert. :D I've been looking at the housing market out there and man it is sooo much cheaper than here in SoCal.

Your first smart phone will be an Evo? That's like going from a Pinto to a Ferrari. That's awesome. I currently have a Samsung moment that I recently upgraded to 2.1. I also added a ROM to it that adds live wallpapers. I'm actually really happy with the phone but the Evo justs looks too amazing to pass up. I'm trying to convince my wife that she needs one too. ;) Problem is she's still figuring out how to use her HTC Hero and she's a little intimidated by new tech. I'm sure she'll handle it though.
 
I am holding out for more people to use it here not just to see how the phone performs in the real world but how Sprint handles the new surge in users.
 
btw, I won't be able to pickup my phones because I wil be in vegas staying at the venetian. Spooky connections in this thread.

I cannot order one until October due to contract issues. I am also hoping that the 10 dollar premium for the phone will go away before I jump on board. I know it may be in vain but since I have to wait I hope there will be at least some benefit to doing so.
 
I pre ordered mine at Radio Shack today :D not sure what to spend the extra $20 on though they don't have much good stuff.

Wow, that is funny. Weird coincidence. Well, since you're a fellow [H]'er, my wife can get tickets to see the show for only $35. It's the cast discount. It's an orchestra seat that normally goes for $170. If you're at all interested, I could get you hooked up.

Maybe you could use it towards buying a bigger sd card? Radioshack sells 16gb micro SD cards. The evo comes I believe with an 8gb card standard. On my current android phone I upgraded the card to 16gb so I could use the ISyncr app to put most of my Ipod songs on my android. Really cool feature. Saves me having to carry my Ipod everywhere.

Thanks for the offer, I'll talk to my girl and see if she has any interest. Probably not (I have to drag her to anything worth doing), but I'll see! :D I'll have to check out that ISyncr app as well. I just formatted my iPod Touch and put it up for sale and that app looks like it'll make it easy to get my music onto an Evo!

Can I get in on the Phantom tix discount also? =P actually, I think they have discounts for local's....but I don't think they're nearly as good.

I believe Sprint's 4G network has all its own backhaul infrastructure, since its technically "owned" by Clearwire. So I wouldn't be worrying much about capacity problems. Build-out will be a much bigger issue at first.

yeah, you won't find a better price anywhere since obviously it's not open to the public. My wife gets orchestra seats which are usually only 5 or 6 rows back. I'd be willing to hook you up as long as you can give me the occasional tips on the best places to eat/shop etc. Just send me a PM sometime.
 
When you pre-order do they make you upgrade your contact right then?
 
When I pre-ordered my EVO from Radio Shack, they ran a credit check to make sure I would qualify for a new 2-year agreement but would be not be signing up until I picked up my phone.

Also, I just returned last weekend, May 15-16, from Vegas where I stayed in the Venetian hotel! What a coincidence :D We all should have coordinated and had a big Vegas party, maybe next time!
 
Next time, check out Aria. I was there for a week in mid-April. I've stayed in most of the big hotels on the strip and Aria is my new favorite. I'm thinking about buying a condo in Center City depending on what kinda deal I can swing.

Oh, this is an EVO thread... just a few more weeks 'til I ditch my 3GS for a new EVO!!
 
Despite my misgivings about 4G technology, I pre-ordered the Evo. Now to see if I can risk skipping out of work Friday AM.

Did they let you preordered 4 without any hassel?
I am asking because I needed 4 for my family plan as well, but RadioShack's website says "Limit 3 preorder per customer." Did you have to do anything to get around it?

Well the wife and I are going to get HTC EVO for sure. We are going to pre-order this bad boy with the first competent sales-person that we meet at either Best Buy or Radio Shack this Saturday :D

To be honest, I can't remember being this excited for a piece of hardware since the Nintendo 64. For some reason I have zero interest in the Iphone 4g, but the Evo just screams ... JUMP ON IT, LETS DOOO IT, RIDDIING MAH POONIE. Just the name Evo gets me right at the heart since I absolutely love Science.

I need to manage a website while I work 13 hour days at my real job, and my wife needs to have a phone with java so she can check her flights online. Last april we were on vacation together and the whole time we were thinking, "man ... a smartphone would help us out soo much right now.." (we were in Amsterdam)

We have had the need for a Smart Phone for a while I just haven't found the right one ... till now.
