I'm building a new system that I plan on using to watch HD video and play games. Would prefer to be able to play the top games for the next few years if possible. I'll be using a ASUS board, 4 gig of mem, and a amd phenom 2 x4 2,8.

I was looking at ASUS EAH5570/DI/1GD3(LP) Radeon HD 5570 1GB 128-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX, need some suggestions on this board and if there are some better ones out there. I heard that ASUS motherboards didn't like to work with other video cards thats why I looked at an ASUS card. Any truth to that? What works well with ASUS mb?

Thanks for any suggestions that you can give me.

It's bullshit, pure and simple. Oh and the HD 5570 is not that good of a card for the money. Any of these cards have a better price to performance ratio than the HD 5570:
$80 - BFG Tech BFGE98512GTGE GeForce 9800 GT 512MB PCI-E Video Card
$110 - PowerColor AX4850 1GBD3-PH Radeon HD 4850 1GB PCI-E Video Card
$160 - XFX HD-577X-ZNFC Radeon HD 5770 1GB PCI-E Video Card

Oh and what PSU will you be using? What size monitor do you have or plan to have?

Thermaltake TR2 W0070RUC 430W ATX12V V2.2 Intel Core i7 Compliant Dual 80mm Fans Full Cable Sleevings Power Supply

I was mistaken, 430w

The only sensible option is the HD5770. It performs well in today's games, overclocks well (most reach 950Mhz easily) should you need more performance in the future and AMD cards are the only ones capable of bitstreaming Blu-ray HD Audio. Oh and the HD5770 at max load consumes 108 watts and at idle 18watts, so your current PSU should be more than adequate for it.

Do you already have that PSU on hand? Ether way, don't get or use that PSU. It does not have enough amperage on the +12V rail for a modern system and is more than likely of very low quality. Get the higher quality and highered amperaged on the +12V rail Corsair 400CX 400W PSU.

Get a 5770 instead. The 5570 has like 1/4 the performance of the 5770, so you won't be able to use a 5570 to game very well, particularly not on a 22" screen. A 500watt psu is more than enough for a 5770.

yea that psu was from my older system, hoping to reuse it but i case I need to start looking, i've bulit with corsair before so I know that they are a good psu. Thanks for the info.

What brands are good for the 5770, I've heard good things about a couple of them

Yeah, the Corsair is a good choice.

XFX is a good brand for the HD 5770 since they offer lifetime warranty and excellent customer support.

Agreed, XFX's lifetime warranty is good peace of mind since you intend to keep the card for some time.

thanks for all the info, i did a little more digging and price check and I came across these four cards:

XFX HD-577X-ZNFC Radeon HD 5770 1GB PCIe DDR5

HIS H577QT1GD Radeon HD 5770 IceQ 5 Turbo OverClocked (OC Version) 1GB GDDR5

ASUS CuCore Series EAH5770 CuCore/2DI/1GD5 Radeon HD 5770 1GB 128-bit GDDR5

SAPPHIRE Vapor-X 100283VXL Radeon HD 5770 1GB 128-bit GDDR5

The HIS and the ASUS, i got emails on deals with those and came across the other two. Let me know if there are any quirks on these cards and if there is anything I'm missing. I felt that the 5770 would be a could choice. Thanks again for the help.
