24.6" Hanns G HDMI for $179.00

Can't comment on quality, but for that price it could make a nice bedroom HTPC setup using one of the VESA mountable Atom ION machines...

I've got a 27.5" Hanns-G. I can't say I recommend it. I've never seen this panel though. Hopefully its better.

I've got a 27.5" Hanns-G. I CAN say I recommend it.

Hanns-G cant compete with a Similar sized NEC or similar, but the difference is that the Hanns is normally about 1/4 the price as well. Also they don't suffer from dim screens like most inexpensive brands, there just the opposite & too bright, but that allows you to turn it down & adjust to your liking if your willing to spend a little time calibrating them.

I bought a 19" 4:3 hanns g lcd 5 years ago for $100AR. All in all, it was a great deal. It suffered from stuck pixels every so often, requiring a flick of the screen to get rid of it. Recently though, it's been suffering power on problems. The led would blink, ccfl would blink on, make a pop sound, then shut off. Repeat this anywhere from 3 to 100 times and it'll finally fire up.

When it does work, I'll need to move my taskbar/buddylist/sidebar around different edges of the screen every few days, or else it'll ghost the image.

I'm sure none of this is relevant to this lcd, so pardon.

Lame question but are there any issues using DVI to HDMI cables?

nope. I had none what so ever. HDMI & DVI are ultimately the same thing except HDMI packs in audio as well. So its not an active cable that has to do anything other then rearrange the pins. Plus on Most new video cards of decent quality HDMI is just about standard.

You can get a quality Dell eIPS 23" for not much more. I would highly recommend that instead of supporting 256K color, TN+Film LCDs. Dell has a much better return policy than Newegg as well.

Define 'not much'. I saw a Dell IPS for $300 + shipping or about 70% more than the Hanns.

A 23" for "not much more" would be such a good deal that it would deserve it's own thread.

I'm guessing he's referring to this $240/$250 AC deal that requires a tiny bit of work: http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?t=2025298

You can probably get another 5% off by going through Bing Cashback.

If anyone wants to start a new thread on this particular "hot deal", you're more than welcome to do so ;)
