New Vox Hard Drive Enclosure, USB + eSata $13 Shipped, Ebay "Buy It Now"

do you think we will have heat problems with this enclosure?
nope, but if you're paranoid you can place it lower to the ground where the air is a couple of degrees cooler, or in a spot where there's more air circulation.

my samsung spinpoint f1 750gb are idling at 43c right now after being on for about 12 hours... ambient temps are high right now though (27c - 80f).

i already have a esata enclosure

but this one looks way cooler and is about 15$ cheaper than what i paid 2.5 years back

look at this thing i just found...

http://www.cooldrives.com/index.php/midudrnasaen.html

comes to around $31 shipped via flat rate mail or $35.50 shipped ground.

looks cheap, but for the price and the extra cooling it would give the hard drives...im almost temped to pick it up.

cooldrives.com doesnt have the greatest reseller ratings though...

Okay noob question here..........this appeals for modding possibilities but notice as you read down through their ad they state that they have:

"If you do not have two external SATA ports on your computer our SATA PCI cards start at $29.98 (option), and RAID cards for $39.98(option)"

What would be the possibility to use this for RAID?? I know nothing about mass storage other than the fact I would like to be able to use this like a file server with dual backup. (think I said that right!)

Not 100% sure if that's the product you're looking for but it can be adapted in certain ways.

For that enclosure you can hog up two of your motherboards sata ports by using this product: http://cgi.ebay.com/2-Port-7-Pin-eSATA-SATA-Power-Cable-Adapter-Bracket-/250489393922. Or you can get yourself an additional two external ports by using this $9 PCI-E card which looks identical to the one sold at newegg for more than double the price.

Then there's products like this and this that claim both drives can work at the same time, but only uses a single eSata cable (port multiplier?).

Check out this deal on a dual-esata enclosure: http://cgi.ebay.com/New-3-5-USB-2-0-External-Dual-SATA-RAID-HDD-Enclosure-/200392894536 <--- Edit: never mind, this is a piece of junk as per Amazon reviews.

I'm not necessarily recommending any of those products, just letting you know that there's quite a few options ;)

You may want to hit up our data storage subforum for more/better ideas.

Hope he gets some more SATA-eSATA cases back in. Want to jump on the $45 Samsung F3 deal to replace a dying drive I use as a backup.

Does anyone know if I need to purchase two licenses to play multiplayer online?

After initializing, it will mount on my MBP desktop via usb, but not esata.
