Gizmodo has a really cool interview posted today with the man that built the suits used in Iron Man 2. There are some pretty interesting nuggets of info in the interview that should get you pumped up to see the movie this weekend.

Wouldn't it be cool to put a really great suit on one of those extreme parachuting kind of daredevil guys, and film him flying through the sky? That would be really cool. Just have some sort of hidden deploy parachute. I think you could get something amazing. But those are risky and not the sort of idea that goes well in a board meeting.

I am so incredibly disappointed at how "mainstreamed" all of these comic movies have became. Ironman is at the top of the list and Robert Downey Jr.is one of the cockiest, douche bag idiots on the planet.

Interesting article.

Just saw Iron Man 2 today and it was as good, or possibly better, then the first!

To whoever goes to see it, make sure you stay through the credits!

While I'm sure comic fans are disappointed in all the comic book movie hype. I think it's a great thing, though I'm not a comic fan. It means the money get's funneled in.

As for actors, I never bother to look at their normal lives. It's always disappointing, and frankly, I don't care what they like or do in their off time. Hell, don't care what they act like either, just care about their stage/screen presence.

As a comic book fan I have really enjoyed some of the more recent comic book movies; Spider man 2, X men 3, dark knight, to name a few. True some are bombs, like Spider man 3, but imo Ironman is right at the top, Robert Downey Jr is the perfect fit to play Tony Stark. I cant wait to see Iron man 2

Type casting FTW! :p

I LOVED both movies, and so far have been relatively happy with most of the Marvel releases.

I wouldn't mind getting my hands on one of the suits. It would be a cardboard cut out any day.

He was pretty cocky in Sherlock Holmes too, but when he was interviewed on Leno's show he talked about his kids a lot. He seemed like a pretty devoted dad.

Almost all the Marvel movies have stunk. Iron Man was good and had the right actor for it since Tony Stark is cocky in the comics as well. The worst were the Fantastic Four and Elektra movies- the 1990 Captain America film was even better than those movies and thats pretty bad.

By far I hate the X-Men movies. They were not even close to the comics. With the exception of Patrick Stewart, everything about them was bad.

Arggh no edit.

Also wanted to mention that Catwoman is the only movie I hate more than both FF films combined.

One hero suit for the entire movie?

Must be a lot of digital effects.

Gotta love when people act like they really know a celebrity.

Meh when you get right down to it the comics themselves suck a lot of the time anyway. There are so many forks and possible story lines in the comics its impossible to even keep track of anything and quite a few where just plain terrible. I quit reading comics back during the whole onslaught saga.

I think the first 2 x-men movies where pretty decent iron man was good and the second hulk was decent as well. Everything else ranges from ok to just plain shitty.

The thing about comic book movies like these are that there have been so many directions in the story line already that doing a movie that dont follow exactly really shouldn't matter. Book to movie is different because thats just the one story line to follow same with comics like the watchment that where a very short series.

I just dont see how with the 800 different story lines these titles have been a part of why the movies have to follow a set story.

That's what makes him a perfect Tony Stark.

I thought the Onslaught saga was the most predictable of all the crossovers of the past twenty years.

Anyhoo, as far as the amount of storylines go I never really saw an issue. If the writers tried doing an abriged version of the start of the storylines it would be a lot easier to present a coherent narrative rather than trying to cram as many recognizable characters as they could into a film, like they've been doing all this time. For example, X-men would have been a lot better if it was a story of how a group of people w/ little in common other than their gifts came together instead of being thrown into the middle of the story.

Also wouldn't have had the fan annoyance of seeing characters w/ their ages changed with little in the way of understandable reason and chopped up remixed origins. I still have yet to get what ourpose most of the academy was supposed to serve given how thoroughly they reduced it to a backdrop.

Man this movie (iron man 2) sucked...waste of 8 bucks.. still like iron man 1 though.

On Gizmodo? As interesting as the interview might be I won't give them the time of day (or clicks/ad impressions).

I routinely boycott companies that engage in unethical behavior. Gizmodo is a recent addition to that list. I encourage everyone else to reflect on whether Gizmodo should be on his or her own list, and if so to hold Gizmodo accountable by not clicking through to their future articles.

When it comes to business, there is no such thing as unethical behavior.

Hah, you buy your computers and parts from companies that engage in unethical behavior, get your internet from a company that engages in unethical behavior, using an operating system from a company that engages in unethical behavior.

Its funny how so many people only make a stand when its convenient for them...

Want to make a real stand against unethical companies start by getting rid of the things i mentioned.

Yeah, get pumped to see some unoriginal brainless mainstream action movie crap! Wheeeee....

Movie was awesome IMO. Nerdiness, action, comedy.

I was mainly talking about the old comics books. I stopped reading comics long ago as well since they got ridiculous. It seems that everytime a superhero dies, he is revived in some way.

Or 10 years of character development goes down the drain. I was following supergirl, and then... *poof* she never existed. I haven't read a DC comic since.

And now spider-man did the worst possible ending. He went Deus-Ex-Machina!!! The series went downhill from there. He went from problem solver to a muscle headed loser.

I'm hoping the Ultimate universe doesn't suck.

So why in the world would you judge the movies based on the comics? Do you see the hypocrisy there?

Robert Downey Jr is cool as fuck. Clearly you haven't seen many of his movies...

Regardless, that's a pretty cool interview. I wish they could do all practical shots in a movie like this (with the exception of weapons and the boosters on the suit and stuff, things that aren't possible).

Cause his characters was a cocky type of person.

Just saw Iron Man 2 tonight. Pretty good movie, not quite as good as the first IMO, but still pretty close.

No movie is ever as good as the first because its something you've seen already.

Exception to this rule are , Terminator 2, Aliens 2, Xmen 2,
