that is what i was afraid of.
the price i found was the cheapest, and it probably wont be much less anytime soon.

no need for all the sarcasm guys.
it is not like i posted this in HOT DEALS. :)

I can't believe they want people to pay $60 for a game that should have included all of the campaigns. Are they going to charge $60 for all of the other episodes too?

Last I read, I dont think they are... They are just going to be single player expansions, right?

The Terran campaign is longer than all three campaigns combined from the original game. Also there's a lot of different units and functionality in the campaign vs. the multiplayer. They're going to be completely separate entities that have a lot of different mechanics. If you read any of the articles about the game, I'm really damn excited about the campaign. This game is worth $60 dollars considering how good the game happens to be, and the staying power it has due to superior multiplayer.

man 60 is pretty steep for a pc game. but i guess the real fans dont care

I think it was said 500 times in another thread, but every blizzard new release has been $60 since the days of Diablo 2 or even earlier.

iirc d2 cost 40, but that was ages ago.

60 bucks is pretty standard for console games, so i'm used to it. i'm more sad that i'm going to need a new computer to play this game

It was literally beat to the ground in another thread complete with screenshots of retail box indicating it was actually $60 along with warcraft 3 etc.

D2 launched for $60.

Blizzard could charge $100 for any game and they wouldn't lose 1 sale.

This, pretty much.

Also, the expansions will be priced as expansions. So $40 each and they'll be spaced about 1.5 years apart.

If it matters, if I decide to buy it, it'll be when it doesn't cost $60

Well hey I pre-ordered the collectors edition... the fact that it comes with SC1 / SC2 on a usb drive (lost my cd's a long time ago) + the fact that I'm selling the WOW pet to a friend makes it worth it to me... not even sure what other special things it comes with.

it's pretty much Starcraft 1 with a graphical update

I don't think I'll be missing out on much
There are already tons of videos out there showing the possibilities of UMS games. Buying SC2 pretty much means getting hundreds of games that come soon come with it. Just look at WC3 there are tons of UMS maps like dota, turret defense, footman frenzy. Even on youtube there are map makers already showing games like Tetris, first person shooters, even arcade games like arcade shooters and the map editor has been out for less than a month. This doesn't even count the fact the you will get tons of play time from campaign and standard multiplayer.

10-4 on that, I do understand where you're coming from, but I thought we were talking about SC2 itself, not UMS

helloooo? Storyline? Seeing Jim Raynor? etc etc.

But then again, you can argue, storyline wise, dawn of war.

Considering the way the RTS genre has been going lately (read: To shit) I'm happy Blizzard isn't changing much. I loved the hell out of Starcraft over a decade ago and its going to feel nice to play a new game with that kind of gameplay.

I am kind of on the fence about when to buy this game. My problem is that I am really not that big of a RTS fan, however the only RTS I did really enjoy was SC1. Despite that I don't feel that I am desperate for another game since I do have a small backlog AND BC2 is going strong for me. I don't have the time to really dedicate to become really good at SC2 so I will probably wait for a more reasonable price point.... in like 5 years.

care to provide a source for this? Not being rude, I would just like to have this confirmed since I've seen this stated several times.

However, my personal guess is that part 2 and 3 will be full price too. I don't think they would pass up the chance to charge $60 x3, and I bet they will still sell, so why not right? If this is the case I at least hope they provide more than just a scripted campaign with the 2 "expansion", some new MP units etc.

Blizzard could have easily gotten away with charging $60 for WoW and $50 for each expansion, but they didn't. So really its hard to predict what they will do.

Wow, I can't believe people bitch about a game costing 60 freaking dollars. Are you that hard up that you have to worry about 10 extra dollars? I spill more at the bar.

Anybody who buys this game will probably play it for at least 20 hours which is 3 dollars an hour for entertainment.

Its not 1995 anymore, ever heard of inflation? And like it has been proved time and time again ALL of Blizzards titles come out at 59.99. But by all means run along back to your PC gaming fantasy land.

I don't care about the cost. I'm buying this game regardless. The beta is badass. Saving $10 here or there doesn't mean shit. I'm going to get far more then $60 out of this game.

the problem isnt a one time expense of 10 dollars. its giving every game company on the planet the impression that we will pay 10 dollars more then they are charging now. then it will happen in another few years again and again etc..

and blizzard used to do battle chests pretty cheap to make it really easy to get all the expansions if you were buying the game late or again. they wont have that for sc2 for at least 3 years if that release schedule is accurate. by then no one will want or need it.

A sidenote - the editor and gamefiles alone would be worth 60$

I loved to play all kinds of TD maps and such in Warcraft 3, but the editor was always a bit limited.

Now, about only a week after the release of the SC2 editor, the custom games are already crazy
