5.3 Months Until ...

I'd agree as well about getting more info about the -smp client out to the newcomers. I just happened across it a few months ago after folding here almost exclusively with my GTX285 (EVGA card giving points to the [H]orde FTW :D ) and was, up to then happy with my 7-9k ppd. Now I'm getting ~13k on a single SMP (Boxen is the main PC in the house) with a once a week overnite run of the GTX putting me close to 20k for that day. If I'd known sooner, I would have been running those instead, due to the lower energy cost / point.

On the plus side, despite living in FL, it looks like I may not have to slow down over the summer, and may even be able to ramp up a touch due to wife getting a job. Only part time, but it will take some of the load off me :D

I agree that a simpler installation such as an universal client would go far in getting people to maximize their systems' potential. It might even help keep new recruits from bailing ship if it requires less tinkering. Keep in mind though, that whatever benefits a universal client would grant this team, every team will reap therefrom. Thus, the larger the team, or the greater its membership numbers it has in potential, the more that team will benefit from an easier, user-friendly installation and pre-optimized client.

Anyway [H] could donate some of the reviewed hardware that may be laying around and is a bit dated Kyle?

WTFFFFFFFF!!!!!!!!! As of this post, we're getting mowed in 136 days:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

arghhhhhhhhhhh... pity I'm not in a position to fold anymore. But you can be sure I will be back serving [H] the day I can fold again.

OK OK. Let's get realistic, I don't think there's much we can do to stop EVGA atm tbh. Their PPD is nearly double ours, we can only plan to make changes to improve our future PPD. I dunno, I've been out of the folding scene for 18months now..... these are just my views

Good to hear from you ROC. :) Dont be a stranger even if you arent in a position to fold at the moment!

I just went back and read through most of the rest of this thread. Just thought that I would post this link.

http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/team_list.php?s=

For all of you that think that team EVGA is not dedicated and will fall apart the minute the overtake us - Think of how dedicated our team is. Then think of a team that can produce 2x the amount of PPD that we are producing. If some of their members do lose interest they have a huge pool of other potential folders that because of their rebates, etc, they can easily recruit more members. They have almost 400 more members than us. Thats a big stat when our team only has 400 active folders.

We can try and help our current team members optimize their boxen all you want but at the end of the day it will take NEW DEDICATED folders to hold off EVGA.

We never siad they werent dedicated, wer just wondering how many will drop off once the money does

I for one think that, as evident in the spikes when they launch the program, once it stops it will be the reverse.

But yes, I think we are all on the same page here, MOAR folders, OPTIMIZE the ones we have, and for the love of god and kittens, FIGHT TILL A CURE IS FOUND

I wouldn't go around hoping that their incentive plan drops as soon as they become number 1. I just can't see that happening.

Just sayin'.

Not as soon, no.

We are in a war of years. This will take time. I'm not going anywhere.

This WILL take time. We cannot undue overnight what has taken months and months to come to fruition (eVGA overtaking the [H]).

This is about perseverance and I do hope that eVGA keeps up the pace. It will give US something to shoot for. We did get lazy sitting atop the hill, but we, as a team, can rectify that. I plan to be here for a while. I've only had just over 2 years with the team, but my hope is that I will be with the team for a while.

We have a LOT of knowledgeable peeps here. Is it easy to get into F@H? Not really. It can take a little time to get up and running and stable. But this is [H] and we just love to tinker. Hell if it ain't broke, it just means we aren't pushing it hard enough, let's push it harder!!!

The PRIDE that this team had when I joined is still there. I think it is getting muffled as the lawnmower that is eVGA is around the corner. We are still a proud team and becoming #2 in the world isn't going to change that. We will paint a huge target on eVGA and that is what we are shooting for.

I never much paid attention to the team rank. I have my fun trying to pass or own members.

now well have a team to pass, thatll be a first for most of us lol

ahh the life im glad i dont have nor will have any time soon at the rate im going..

I always thought that Kyle was a single person, but I tend to think that of most of the reviewers on the internet. I agree as i'm in no hurry to take on those type of responsibilities.

I was planning on joining [H] later on this year once i got my second rig up and running but someone trashed my main rig that runs for team 56895 whilst i was away so i need to get that repaired first. Once i can get over 25k ppd on that though any extra will be heading this way but at the moment i can only guess that it won't be for several months yet.
In the meantime i will read all the sage advice that is on here and chip in when i feel able:)

Managed to get my rig repaired so i have a few points [h]eading the way of the [h]orde. Its only a part time 8800gt for now but there is more come in the near future:D

Hey, nothing wrong with that!

And since your new the the [H]orde (folding wise) get your badge and sign up for the give away!

I'm trying to help, just need some pimpage and word to spread: http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1511675

Awesome effort there Kendrak. I'd like to make a little comment though.... I used to co-host the OCAU folding competition along side mitsimonsta. We started off giving away FULL PCs just as you have. However posting the case made it really expensive for us and winners. Our solution was to give away video cards only. Most folders have a free pci-e slot and just shove it right in. In short, it cost roughly $500 for a PC that would pump around 5k PPD. Or we could spend $500 on video cards and get 25k PPD.

Feel free to shoot me a PM if you have any questions or anything you would like to discuss.

ROC

By next give away maybe we could scrounge enough for a 275, open up for paypal donations

Everyone needs to go out and buy a GTS 250 NOW! That's the only way we'll hold off EVGA. We need about 4300 more PpD per person to be even with them.

It would be awesome of GPU3 came out and made the best for our ATI cards. I feel then we would seriously jump in numbers due to the sheer number of people with ATI cards on [H]ardForum.

I was thinking about swapping out the 4850 in my kid's AMD box for a 250. I might just do that pretty soon unless the Fermi matter gets resolved and end up folding better than my 275 which means daddy is getting the new card and the kid gets an awesome hand me down videocard.

Fermi's will fold well, period. Tests put a 480 over 17k ppd just using the current work arounds, so it will fold well. The 470 I got will hopefully OC well enough to get over 15k

we just have to wait for the officialclient, shouldn't be more than a few weeks, but don't worry, Fermi will fold

and by GPU3 the availability issues should be solved

or you could just buy me a second GTX 260 216 core to fold with.. :p well that is if that second slot in this board even works still but who the heck knows.. this boards given me enough trouble as it is..

lol if the GPU3 client even added 2k more ppd to the ATI cards id friggin go out and buy one right now.. just because im sick of dealing with nvidia drivers.. even if my GTX 260 still gets more PPD then a 5870..

A 470 or 2 would be really nice with my 980x. :) If your estimate is close I could get almost 70k with the 2 470s and the dual bigadvs running on Habu.

Speaking of the dual bigadvs, they should be done around noon PST tomorrow. Both VMs are still averaging 40.5 min per frame.

Thanks but as i have amassed over 5mil points for another team and have a rig doing 23k a day for them i think i'll let the true new guys have a stab at it. Meanwhile i've had some good news from work so i sense MOAR D coming this way in a couple of months.:D

Well were glad to have you all aboard, were getting a lot of new faces around here, and I can hear the rumble of our steamroller trying to start up :)

Anyone else checking the team's stat page waiting for the first few bombs to drop?

It's great to see new interest and people folding...

I'm thinking we will see a jump in 2-3 days as all the new guys finish their pre-req 10 units and start collecting the bonuses

Not enough to stop them, but we are learning from this go, our next go will be that much better

And of course, we owe all of this to the new team members, couldn't get much higher without you guys!!

I check a few times a day but it won't become apparent until the 1:00 AM (EDT) update when the daily production totals get updated.

20 days ago this thread was started. 20 days ago it was known that in 5.3 months EVGA would overtake us. in 0.66 of a month (20 days) they have only gained 0.1 (3 days) of a month, now needed 5.2 months to overtake us.

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN WE ARE HOLDING THEM BACK!!!

Yea, and in that time they dropped to 4 months, and we've pushed them back to the old date, not bad my brothers

Thanks to the new faces, we owe it to them, but we need more new people if we hope to keep pushing back

Unless the wife goes into labor tonight I should have my new 930 up on the test bench getting it A3 stable before the end of the night.

Got to make up for tiger going away on holiday.

I need a client that works with the GTX 480!!!!

Sadly, I feel that once this happens EVGA will become a dominant force again. Our only consolation is that if GPU3 supports the 480, it'll also bump up the efficiency for ATI cards, (which I feel most of our [H]er's have in their systems right now). Maybe we'll even get Kyle back into folding

sadly we are probably gonna get passed. but the good side of that not being top dog tends to make people hungry which evga is now. those who may be borderline folders may want to see there team on top again.

Ohhh... I'm not 100% sure this is a lost cause yet...

If we can continue to rally and get SMP/GPU rigs up with new members we can grow our way out of the problem where as EVGA seems to be shrinking.
