Bad Company 2

at least youve used a uav before, I've never killed a single person with a vehicle yet in my 1500 frags so far

Mine was my second by less than 10 hours. I had over 400 knife kills before I got the 40mm grenade platinum as my first.

A big part of getting good KDRs is the art of flanking. And naturally, many knife kills come with a successful flank.

i am the complete opposite. 40mm first before knifing. only 5% of my kills are with a knife. I was wondering, how many unique dog tags do you have now?

The UAV is awesome, especially with the improved optics perk. You can stand quite a ways off and rain death from above.

I REALLY enjoy using it on all of the god damned snipers!

i guess im stil obsessed about unlocking all the weapons for the different classes at this point in time. Vehicle unlocks will be the last of my priorities

I'm going to guess 800 total, 650 unique (which includes 2 golds).

I'll give a more exact number later as stats sites are blocked at work.

My total kills is almost 9000, so knife kills are probably 8 or 9%.

22-0 on UAV? That's some skills!

Once you know how to avoid the ground fire, you can clean up with this IF you know two things:

1. Stay high, far back and keep moving; even when targeting something/someone. Even if you miss, you'll still be alive. If you stop to line up the crosshairs, someone will shoot you down.

2. What shipster said about Optics. Nuff said.

Gotten several triple kills where guys are huddled together, spamming nades/40mm while spooning each other.

You only listed one!

#2. Patience? :D

Guess you quoted me before I caught my mistake. Reread my post. Sorry. Optics sir. Optics.

You'll be amazed at how far you can sit back and still see guys skulking about. You can definitely stop guys from flanking you.

oooo... never thought of that. that much better than reload speed?

Better than Alt fire, reload, etc.....It's now my default option for all class loadouts since I rarely grab the tanks.

Seriously, in about 10 hours of playtime I've gotten about 140+ kills with it and of course you only get the option on Attacker so about 5 hours of playtime.

So about 30 kills an hour or 0.5 kill every minute. A bit slow, but seems pretty fun being the "eye in the sky". I know it's frustrating for me when the enemy has a UAV way up high that i can't bring down. :p

Well, keep in mind that's 5 hours of playtime in which I'm not always flying that thing. It's really not boring though as you're watching for tanks, fixed machine guns, and taking out helicopters BEFORE they lift off. I actually had a Hind helicopter try ramming me. Apparently he didn't realize that for some reason the UAV hitting a helo will barely affect the UAV but the helo is usually destroyed. He dropped like a rock, giving me credit for destroying vehicle and 2 kills. :p

The reload time on it is about 30-45 seconds so you can get a kill a minute or so AND take out guys/MCOM in the buildings.

Hmm, maybe I'm confused. Reload for the rocket from the UAV is about 30-45 seconds. How are you able to take out guys/mcon in the building in the meantime? Do you mean with the UAV's machine gun? Doesn't that replace the optics option?

EDIT: Ok, I think I understand now. I've gotta stop responding to your posts before you're finished writing them.

Sorry, meant that since the missiles reload every 30-45 seconds, you can average a kill a minute. No alt gunning available like you said. While you're waiting for the missile reload, you scan for your next target(s), picking the ones that will help your team the most or kill the most guys. You'll see two guys pretty close, so focused on shooting that they're not moving much. Put the missile down right in between them and get the multiple kill.

And if you see a helicopter sitting on the ground, wait til a guy starts running for it THEN launch the missile. They rage when you kill them before they lift off for some reason. :D

Thanks for the tips on the UAV. You could probably write a brief manual on this. :D I'll probably play with this seriously once I'm done with my insignias. Still need about 25 for destroy vehicles, 125 for sniper kills, and over 300 for shotgun kills. :(

i love flying the UAV and randomly killing the same guy over and over. i dont try for it, it just happens then he rages

The pre-patch knife was my best weapon after the AN-94. I've stopped using except in desperation now that backstabbing is non-existent.

It's not that it doesn't work, it's just that it's not 100% now. The hitbox is a lot smaller I believe so you pretty much have to center their head where your crosshairs would be. Not sure though. I heard a guy behind me on Arica Harbor earlier today and he should have had me twice before I shot him with my AN-94. He was understandably pissed.

I've got 705 total with 630 unique and only one set of gold ones but after getting platinum I slowed way down. I started using those easy kills on weapons I was trying to boost kills on (shottys, pistols, C4, etc). My dogtags are gracing 150 people's trophy case though.

i find that getting a platinum knife star before any other gun is hard to believe. you must only knife people or something

Not really, the knife is there with every kit so it's basically the only universal weapon besides grenades, and it's one hit kill so it's one of the most leathal weapons. If you can get behind the enemy lines on a quad bike, then getting 4-5 knife kills in a row is pretty trivial, no one ever looks behind them.

Here's my stats - http://bfbcs.com/stats_pc/Frosty

You can see I have platinum in the knife, the 2nd platinum I got was in the tanks, but that's a grouped platinum across all of them, not for any one specific tank, 3rd I got was the Carl Gustav after a lot of whoring.

It also shows the melee pins, which is awarded for 4x kills in a round, which i've earnt 53 times, dogtags page shows 724 total dogtags and 605 unique, knife accounts for more or less exactly 10% of my kills :)

All this talk of UAVs made me realise I love flanking and shooting UAV operators in the back, I bet it really ruins their fun. :p

There are some people who go out of there way to knife people.. I use it as a last resort when I'm out of ammo pretty much... I got like 170~ unique dogtags...

Or I use it when I don't want to alarm others... if you start shooting guns nearby people start freaking out, but if you knife the guy standing 5 feet away from him they usually don't notice if they're looking the other direction.

I checked my 2142 stats when I played on Pistol/Knife servers a lot... I only had ~3200 kills but 1300 of them were knfies... 300 from pistols... probably had a bunch of defib kills too

How do people fly the choppa?

From what I've been seeing on rush maps with the UH-60, many UH-60 pilots don't bother going around and strafing anymore. They just strap as much C4 as possible and just ram the or detonate around the MCOM stations while bailing out at the last second. Works pretty well too. Especially if you have a decent squad that knows when to eject without prompt. Once that squad lands and if armed with C4, they can often finish off the MCOM station without too much issue. Seen it happen plenty of times.

So if you want to still want to be useful as a choppa pilot, start practicing with C4, ramming, and bailing out at the last second :)

Is this the spawn lag/freeze you're experiencing? If you're using AVG try disabling Resident Shield and see if that does the trick.

I did notice that spawn lag thing recently after the patch but no I get hard locks. I have to hold down my power button to turn off my PC. I get the annoying stutterish sound too. :(

If you manage to sneak up behind a squad of people, if you open fire chances are you'll only get 2 of them before they kill you, if you knife them silently you can get all 4 no problem, it has massive tactical advantage, flank a sniper spot and several kills are easy to get.

It's not like you need to put away your gun, keep it trained on peoples head as you approach them and if they spot you then open fire, otherwise the knife kill is way less distracting.

It's more a confidence thing than anything else, some people get a little excited about an easy kill and miss a great opportunity to do a bit of a Barry Scuttle around the back and take a whole bunch of people out.

when i see someones back i always think its missing something important... a knife :D

I've finally been doing a lot better in game, still playing engineer mostly. My usual load out is the 74u, 1911, Carl Gustov, Red dot or 4x depending on map, and the vehicle perk depends on the map also. I haven't unlocked any perks like extra ammo, magnum ammo or armor yet.

I have the AT-4 unlocked, but haven't used it much. In fact, I see few people using it. I stuck with the CG since I seem to be better with it. I don't really miss the tracking the AT-4 has, since every vehicle in sight gets tracer'd pretty quick.

I'm having a problem with the UAV though... I jumped into an empty server and tried flying it, but couldn't get it to climb. It would only fly straight and turn. I tried remapping controls, restarting the game, etc., but no dice. Weird, I'm probably missing something simple.

I found I never load-out my kits with Red-dots or ACOGs... just because I've gotten used to the Ironsights on most weapons and find the other extra perks like more explosives, nades, or ammo are more useful.

The UAV uses R and F to climb/lower I believe... I actually played through the campaign and they let you try out a UAV in one of the missions so you have to know how to fly it then.

I think it depends on your class. I like to use ACOG with the AN-94 since assault has infinite ammo anyway.

But for engineer I definitely just stick with the iron sights and use explosive perk.

I kind of have to use ACOG because I play BC2 at a high FOV (105). the only exception is Engineer, but I'm primarily using CG as anti-infantry or trying to take down a tank.

I'm still horrible with any kind of optics, I pretty much lose my target after the first shot lol. I'm positive the red dot seems too high and the acog is just too bouncy. Ironsights never fail me!

What's this I keep hearing about some sights making the draw time increase on weapons, and is there any truth to it?

I also never use optics.

The only way I'd use them is if they somehow modify the coded stats of a weapon to make it better. (yes theoretically having 4x will make me more accurate thus making the gun more efficient...)

I don't use optics, but some of the iron sights really are horrible. on the other hand, some are the best implementation I have seen in any game.
