Bad Company 2

Conquest. I feel like I can play conquest in many different ways whereas rush pidgeon holes everyone into one objective.

Not to mention that if you have a retarded team on Rush you're often fucked. If you have a retarded team on Conquest you can at least sneak around the side and be a flag-capping hero storming behind enemy lines.

Yea I found my w/l ratio for attacking and defending... it's like .60 for attacking, and 5.50 for defending... I don't know if I help a lot with defending but I usually am not super aggressive with attacking, I sit further back and assist :p

On FF on servers, there should be some way to let you know if someone tk'ed you UAV. Seems like the morons who would TK for the UAV have gotten smarter, and now just destroy the UAV itself...

I was owning today with the sniper rifle, blew up 6 mcom stations, and had 40 kills/3 deaths. So i got kicked by the admin because ive been blowing up his head all night and accused me of being a hacker/glitcher/camper/cheater of which im pissed about.

Question is, will the kills and points get registered prior to the kicking or is it all lost if you get kicked from a server?

yea the points should get added even if youre kicked, atleast thats my impression. you can test it, check your stats, log in, shoot people, then alt F4 or alt control delete out of the game, go check ur stats. and see if anything has changed...

Which do you guys prefer: rush or conquest?

Conquest is great since it's way easier change the direction of the game relying on yourself or your squad (if you find people that will stick together).

I enjoy rush but it's annoying when you have an overly aggressive or cowardly team.

On offense I can work with an overzealous team and support, use them as shields, clean up after them, or sneak around freely.
If I find myself on a cowardly offensive team, I'll usually just spam smoke on our snipers after I give up sneaking to the mcoms and leave once they get annoyed.

On defense it's just a downer seeing an overly aggressive team trying to drop the attackers tickets to 0 at the offensive spawn point before that one guy strolls in spawning his squad and then setting off the mcoms.
I don't mind getting steam rolled when my cowardly team is trying their best to defend the true mcom disguised as a rock/crate/building/tree/ficus near our spawn point since I can boost my kdr easily by sneaking around the attackers. Heck it's an insta-flank once we get pushed back and I wind up behind the attackers spawn point.

Yup, you won't see me complaining about m60's nerf.

However, with over 1,100 kills on it I think it's time to move on to another gun (so I can get award points).

Try the MG36, fantastic weapon. Accurate at range, good damage, free red dot (normal) and deadly firing from the hip.

Platinumed it this morning - took me 11 hours play and my accuracy stats and headshots were superior to the M60s. Scope is easy to pick off enemy, seems to zoom in more than standard red-dots.

I've now moved on to the T88 LMG. XM8 has far too much recoil kick, horrible weapon.

The patch seems to mess the tank's cannon bullet drop or its just me? its also slow now!

Bullet drop increased massively, before it would go fairly straight. It 'loops' slower too. Noticed this immediately on Port Valdez, lobbing cannon shots into the first area. Couldn't hit anything.

I have noticed the arm/disarm is bugged occasionally.
I have a problem arming MCOMs. I try moving around the crate and whacking 'V' on the keyboard but it simply won't arm. Anyone else have this problem? It's almost like it's been hexed by the opposition.

Rush, conquest is tedious. I feel I'm going round in circles constantly in conquest mode. I've racked up 70 kills in a few rush games, I've never got close to that in Conquest mode, it's over too fast

Damnit, after the patch the fucking game freezes on me now. I took my Q9550 and ATI 5770 back to stock and it still locks up. Grrrr

sometimes MCOMs just won't arm. nothing you can do about it.

if you're mouse has 5 buttons or more, try binding one of them to the action button, since you can move around AND shoot while arming.

Well I've had times where there are so many dead bodies on the mcom I keep picking up kits instead of arming / disarming the mcom which is quite frustrating.

it would be nice for the Mcom to take priority over switching out weapons :p

maybe its because you have to press E to arm?

I think the V key by default is knife attack.
whats weird I will have to look but I don't think I changed it but I have to hit C to arm them.
( I bet I did something ) I was trying to use my belkin with COD4 loadout so I remapped the keys to match it.

how the hell do you use the machine gun on the UAV? everytime I fly it it always only let me use the missile strike thing with the target lock..

Repair tool kills are worth a million HAHA' :D I went a whole round without using a knife, instead switching to defib or repair tool. AWESOME.

It feels great repair tooling the enemy. How embarrassing for them, I would love to see that killcam ;)

Got two a few days ago in the same game, takes a few seconds to kill the enemy and I'm surprised they don't turn around and knife or shoot me but both where oblivious!

maybe the game disagrees. this might be one of the buttons that has multiple mappings

Could be, I'll check the default mappings and see if there are any conflicts. I may switch it to another key, but I'll probably force of habit hit the old key anyway.

Happens frequently. Very frustrating picking up weapons when you're desperate to arm the MCOM. Not only that but you end up with a weapon that you're not used to and don't want and try and get the old one back, by that stage you're probably dead or close to being hunted down.

Ideally all weapons dropped with a certain radius of the MCOM should become inactive and not 'pick-up-able' Not very realistic but would make for better game

Well that's what I figure is that if the mcom is not armed and you're an attacker, the action key should try to arm the mcom vs. pickup a kit.

There might be some ridiculous scenario where you want to pickup a kit next to the mcom but not arm it but that's far less likely then wanting to just arm the mcom.

And vice-versa... if the mcom is armed and you're defender, it should take priority of disarming the mcom vs. picking up kits. If the mcom is armed and you're an attacker you can now pickup kits near the mcom, and if the mcom is not armed / you're defender, you can pickup kits near the mcom

That seems to be the simplest solution and works well in most situations.

Yeah it's very rewarding. I got repair tooled at one point during my charade but it was funny, right as I turned around to kill him, I dropped dead. I was surprised at how quick the repair tool kills though, not bad. I have worse luck getting kills with the defib that's for sure.

I've had bad luck with the bugged knife... it seems to still pull off the most ridiculous stuff though, some guy you never thought you'd knife and you still end up killing him. But when you're standing right next to the guy which his back facing you, it doesn't work.. I tried 2-3 times and nothing... finally just started shooting people when I sneak up on them because I'm afraid the knife won't work..

How do people fly the choppa? I'm level 26 and only just starting trying to pilot. I'm great at zipping around like a retard and thus stopping people from tracering/CGing me (and preventing my own gunners from hitting anything :p).

But when it comes to actual controlled flying, hitting tanks and stuff, I just can't do it. I've tried mouse + keyboard, I've tried keyboard + keyboard (using arrow keys) and also an Xbox 360 controller. I have a joystick as well but haven't tried it as its kinda annoying to set up and swap back and forth from the keyboard.

From my experience of getting kicked, my kills and points did register.

thanks! i just experimented again today.

Annoyingly the same thing happened to me just now. I was playing team deathmatch, i was owning again with the steyr aug and got kicked after the admins team lost by 2 frags. He said i was using 40mm too much as areason for kicking.

I swear, Im starting to hate admins now.

Greatest game ever this weekend. The retards on my team REFUSED to arm the MCOMs, so on "Isla Whatever the map is called", I jumped on the UAV and from the 1st base, took out all of the MCOM's at each stage of the map. The Other team was bitching about using the "gay assed" UAV, but they never shot it down. I mean Jesus Christ, it takes like 10 hits to destroy 1 MCOM!

And even less hits to take down the UAV! :D

Hold the action button before you get into the big messy pile, it will still disarm it and you won't pick up useless kits all with annoying optics on them :D

where (i.e. how many points in what specialization) do you get this?

It's the last one on the list so I can assume it's the last vehicle specialization u can get. I'm going to guess 20,000 vehicle points but I'm sure you can google this topic for a more exact answer.

EDIT: Looks like I have the thread's 4,444th post. Bad luck for the Chinese!

XM8 was good before the nerf. It was near the M60. I was hoping to get my XM8 platinum in before the nerf but oh well - at least I got the M60 plat.

Bleh platinums are easy even with bad weapons, the average BC2 player is pretty awful at the game, the fact that my knife was easily my first platinum is a testament to how bad players are at this game.

i find that getting a platinum knife star before any other gun is hard to believe. you must only knife people or something

Mine was my second by less than 10 hours. I had over 400 knife kills before I got the 40mm grenade platinum as my first.

A big part of getting good KDRs is the art of flanking. And naturally, many knife kills come with a successful flank.

I prefer Rush because Conquest seems like one big circle jerk and is over way too quickly so you can't score that well.

On FF on servers, there should be some way to let you know if someone tk'ed you UAV. Seems like the morons who would TK for the UAV have gotten smarter, and now just destroy the UAV itself...

I got tk'd yesterday on Isla Inocentes for it. I was still using the same one all the way to the last set of objectives and was at 22 kills and 0 deaths. Guess the asshat thought I'd done enough damage.

Is this the spawn lag/freeze you're experiencing? If you're using AVG try disabling Resident Shield and see if that does the trick.

Knowing the maps is the key to both positive KDRs and knife kills. Know where the enemy will come to camp and wait nearby nestled into cover. As soon as you hear them firing move in with blade at the ready. Of course after the recent patch, good luck to all trying to platinum the knife now.

It's really not *that* bad. I can still knife people from the back 3 out of 4 times. Although if it fails one time, I've learned not to try again as it usually won't work against the same enemy twice in a row. I'm at 800 right now and shooting for 1000 before I get to level 40.

22-0 on UAV? That's some skills!

I've used the UAV probably a dozen times in 135 hours of playtime. I don't ever get more than 2 kills with it.
