Ever wonder how many times the government requests user data from YouTube and Google? Thanks to recently released data (and a new online tool) we know.

Like other technology and communications companies, we regularly receive requests from government agencies around the world to remove content from our services, or provide information about users of our services and products.

they don't care so long as you don't poke their eyes out.

in before someone actually doing that.

China is conspicuously absent from this list.

Surely they made requests before attempting to hack in to get it? Perhaps their should be another view of this chart that shows how many hacker "requests" originate from each country.

What's disturbing is that apparently, google complies (which includes giving out private information) 80% of the time.

The government can and will gather information of alleged suspects of major crime or conspiracy by gathering all emails from the said person through yahoo, microsoft, google and any other major email provider. And they always comply, so google isn't the first.

From Google:
"Chinese officials consider censorship demands as state secrets, so we cannot disclose that information at this time."

Interesting, didn't see that.

Well, all the more reason to show the origin and frequency of hacking attempts! Surely they aren't state secrets...
