[warm] Lian Li pc-7fn mid-tower $110 w/ FS

There are newer models on the way from Lian Li that include stuff like all-black interiors or USB 3.0, but this specific case is pretty good for the price.

$110 + free shipping - Lian Li pc-7fn. This is a very competitive price vs other etailers, but qualifies as a great deal because it includes free shipping.

If an all aluminum case isn't of importance to you, a good alternative might be the Antec Solo ($70 after MIR). It's an older design based off the now-defunct p150 that garnered high marks from silentpcreview. Also definitely compare prices from other stores since the egg is notorious for rapid markups and price gouging. The following aren't Hot Deals, but I'll link 'em anyhow for reference:

$120 + $19.44 shipping - LL pc-7fnw. Same case w/ a window added. No free shipping = meh deal

~$147 shipped - LL pc-60fn. Almost exactly the same case as the pc-7fn, but w/ a different front panel that gives a different look vs the 7fn's rounded fan intake area.

replacement top cover w/ 140mm fan hole. For those wanting a factory made blowhole.

I think price gouging is way to strong of words unless there has been a natural disaster causing life saving video cards to be difficult to acquire.

What the hell when did Lian Li start adding these LED fans? I still like my original PC-7B more ;/

Ask people about Newegg's ssd pricing prior to other etailers getting solid quantities in stock. Newegg also quickly and regularly increases prices to maximize profit based on customer interest and this can be seen if you've ever noticed an item jump in increments week by week till the price is far beyond it's original selling price. Call it what you want, but it's a practice that focuses on increase newegg's money, and does zero to benefit customers. Hence, shop around.

Really any responsible business will attempt to maximize their profit, that is what they are in business for! And if you dont like the price, shop elsewhere, no hardship.

I posted the deal didn't I? I still purchase products from newegg, my point was that people should definitely comparison shop. I would also argue that it is greed that motivates a business to "maximize" profit. Contrary to many people's interpretations of capitalism's core concepts, there ARE businesses that could make a larger profit, but instead adopt practices that reduce profits by favoring the customer's welfare. That attitude encourages customers to become long-term buyers rather than one-and-done shoppers. Newegg for the most part does a good job of this by not only being competitive on pricing, but also reasonable on things like warranties or exchanges. That doesn't mean however that they don't have room to improve or be less aggressive in things like ramping up prices on "hot" items once enough interest is drummed up.
