Looks like Target broke the street date of 4/13/10. They had 2 copies I grabbed one.

I didn't realize this is a stand alone and doesn't even require GTA IV to play it.

Just got home, haven't installed it yet. Includes 2 DVDs, manual and a map / poster.

Oh, pretty darn cool. I should go check out my location!

By the way, the MSRP for the PC version is $29.99, $10 less than the console versions.

Yea I realize it's not a "HOT DEAL" but more of a "BROKEN STREET DATE" type deal lol. I was shocked to see it today, I was there last night they had a sign up for it but no copies were on the shelf till today. I hope they do this more often lol

does this one perform any better than gta 4 did for pc?

Dunno man, just getting ready to install it. I had no problems with GTA IV though, I've had a quad core CPU for awhile. Thats the key, you need a quad to get decent performance.

Just finished installing, date check fails. Tried changing the date but its hitting a server lol gotta wait.

pc version blow ps3 out the water? i got gta4 on ps3.. been curious if going pc would be worth it.. i kno my pc is a lil bit dated now *8800gt, e6700@ 3.6, 4gb ram*.

the consoles severely lack in games like gta4... when friends see the game on my pc they cant believe how good and smooth it plays...

My two nearby Target locations didn't have it. :(

I know that GTA4 for the PC uses Securom, mainly to check the release date, to prevent people from playing the game early by leaked copies. Looks like you hit that as well. There's no installation limits.

Depends on your PC. I've played it on all three platforms and it running on my PC blows them away, completely. Its much more smooth, higher resolution, crisp. I have a trainer for it that also makes it much more fun, to spawn cars at any time, invincibility, super speed, super jump, etc.

much higher textures. The console is like Medium on the PC. Someone did an article on it when the PC version launched. It was so different it was sick. Console version has way lower draw distance, lower textures and when alot of things are happening you can feel the FPS hit 1.

I don't know why people act like consoles are such power houses, they are nothing compared to the computing power of a decent gaming machine. Its like comparing a big wheel to a ferrari.

The PC version has extra detail options and textures that would take up almost 3x the entire texture memory of the PS3.

If you read Rockstar's FAQ, you'll see that on several of the detail sliders, such as detail view distance, the PC can set the detail options to 100%. Rockstar says that on a console, the equivalent setting would be only 11%. Console view distance is only 22% of the PC version's capabilities. Console has 0% of the PC's shadow density options.

Here's my screenshots of late. I haven't modded any of the textures or graphics. Just a first person view mod, a motion blur mod, and some shader mods for lighting.

But to be quite honest, a e6700@ 3.6GHz and an 8800GT won't really get you graphics much better than a PS3. GTA IV on PC is insanely CPU hungry, demands a quad core and best graphics settings require 2GB of video memory.

That said, the PC version has a ridiculous amount of mods available for it, the 1st person mod makes everything worth it for me for immersion into the city.

game unlocked earlier today. Performance is lower than GTV IV probably due to no game specific tweaks yet from ATI.

I'm guessing if you rename the main exe file to gtaiv.exe, you'll get the benefits. The engine and city is all the same.

nah, it wont run at all if you rename anything. Tried it. Game is still kick ass and fun, have to wait for ATI to catch up.

So do all Targets have them? I want to go pick it up but don't want to just get there and be empty handed

Can you register it on Steam yet?

Not sure, mine had two copies. I grabbed one. They are $29.99.

Its not a steamworks game, so no steam needed. It unlocked earlier today (securom date check), I've been playing it already :)

In case no one noticed, it's on steam for $29.99.

Still working on GTA IV, I'll wait until it's on sale. I got GTA IV for $7.49 last Christmas steam sale afterall.

BTW, GTA IV had an update patch today that added the graphics features and updates of EFLC to GTA IV. Unfortunately, it also broke all my mods so I had steam rebuild my files since Steam is still on the old version.

Yea, I think the new patch killed mods. In some cases though people are saying the game looks so much better some of the graphical mods aren't even needed now.

I bought my third copy when it was on sale from Steam over xmas. I own D2D, retail DVD and Steam copies. Its a masterpiece imo.

i also got into the steam 7.49 GTA IV deal... too bad i still don't have a graphics card to play it yet :)... waiting on a cheap deal for a 4670...

maybe i'll get liberty city when it drops to 7.49 this christmas :)...

I got my copy at Best Buy today. They had to look real hard in the back room to find the PC version (took at least 15 minutes!) whereas the PS3 version was in plain full sight in the gaming section. Gamestop and Microcenter didn't have any PC copies at all.

On the spine of my copy, at the top portion where the "Games for Windows LIVE" logo is, there is a small green circle with the number 1 written on it covering part of the Windows logo. Anyone else have this? None of my other Games for Windows PC games have this.

I guess some printing error?

Picked it up at BB today. It was right next to their new release PS3 copies. I've had this for a while now on my 360, but it looks even more stunning on PC.

It runs great on my XFX 5770. Everything on high/very high with the detail and view distance at 50 and the vehicle density to 100.

Anyone know if GTA mods will work with this?
