1.5TB drive showing up as a 500GB drive?

so I just got a seagate 1.5TB last night
I formatted (quick format) and then copied everything over from my HTPC last night over to it, no issues...I checked it this morning and ensured everything was there and the PC could read it

I move it to my HTPC today...says it's not initialized and needs to be formatted...
so I go to the disk management shows up as a 500GB drive
move it back over to my main PC, thinking it might read it differently, nope...still showing up as a 500GB, and unformatted

I load up rstudio, shows up as 500GB, and no filesystem

wtf?! anyone have any ideas for me?
I am not sure how to procceed while retaining my data

and is the drive totally f'ed?
