Ok, so removing the stand is possible but you have to be extremely careful not damage the monitor. For some reason the screws you see from the bottom (underneath) of the stand are not the only ones that hold the stand attached to the stand (even though there are 6 of them....) There is another screw on the backside of the L shaped rotating bracket. It connects the plastic stand and the monitor itself.

 I just ordered a mounting bracket to put this up on the wall, so I guess I'll get to experience this fun for myself.

I bought one to VESA mount and managed to get the plastic stand separated. The metal tilt mechanism is still attached to the monitor and I'd like to remove that, also. Were you able to remove that portion? If so... how?

I just left it on. It's not touching the wall and I can't see it. I quickly glanced over the tilt mech and it's just attached with a hex nut, so a wrentch would be all you needed.

Yeah, the tilt part would come off but there would still be the metal part that sticks out from inside the monitor. Would like to get that whole assembly off so nothing stick out. I did not see a way to do that. The two screws above it seem unrelated. Thanks for sharing your experience.

You could probably take a Dremel to it if you REALLY wanted to get rid of it. Dremels are awesome.

Maybe the above is why? I use the 'Nature' RGB setting on mine instead of manual and find that good. B=15 C=45 Xcontrast=off

I'm not sure what you mean by "Maybe the above is why?" Are you talking about Brightness? I turned Brightness down from 100, since it was hurting my eyes. That's what I was talking about. I like the user setting of RGB 100 better than nature, to me it makes whites look more well white :p

I used Hannspree's calibration tool "X Tune" to come up with my settings. It's a lot easier to switch between settings and I don't have to fool with all the on screen controls.

Nope left the two metal parts that stick out. Put some black electric tape on it.

I did remove the bracket (that was attached to the stand) with wrenches. Taped up the two separate metal parts that stick out from the back. You never know when I will want to get rid of the stand or a claim for the warranty. This way i can put it all back together.

Did you put the tape on the metal parts to protect the wall from them, or can you see them?

What kind of set up do you have that makes them noticable?

I was talking about using RGB all at 100. I played around with manual RGB and all at 100 is very contrasty. I would start all at 50 and tweak it from there.

EDIT: It seems to be working now

Anyone having trouble with the monitor waking up after Windows 7 turns off the screen, or waking up from sleep?

It worked before, while always slower than my older monitor, it would always come back on. Then after coming back from a week vacation, now the monitor just stays asleep, with the yellow light, even though my 2nd Dell monitor always comes back on.

I now have to turn the monitor on and off for the picture to come back.

I know there was heavy weather while I was gone from my house for near a week. Could electrical issues have caused something? Nothing wrong at my house, except just as this started, my Tivo settings were messed up, shows listed alphabetically and not grouped all of a sudden. Turning on my PS3 it acted like it was the first time connected to HDMI, bring up a screen asking if I wanted to also use audio with HDMI. Strange.

Makes me wonder if something happened during a thunderstorm that messed up the monitor some how. I am using a DVI to HDMI adapter too, maybe getting an HDMI cable is worth a shot.

Question. What color is the power LED on the I-Inc 28 inh version? I plan to purchase this one

Blue, not overly bright either.

Just bought one from newegg, should arrive midweek (getting giddy) :D

Can anyone explain what the two audio ports are? One is obviously for audio input, but the other is colored pink. Ideas?

on mine, one's for audio in for the VGA port (HDMI has it's own audio) and then the green on is an audio out).

Interesting, so basically the monitor is doing audio passthrough? Nifty if I still used a 3.5mm connected headset, would rather have had usb passthrough like on my hp w2207 :D

Nope just cause I am a bit OCD. Only on some things... Last pic is the only angle you could notice it from.

Wowcro = me... I am not sure how I ended up with two user names. I think wowcro was saved on my old linux machine firefox. Well old now.

Edit: Took the electrical tape off to show how far I removed them to.

Here's my setup:

My new 28 inch beaut should arrive Monday, but there is no way that monster would fit in that space now filled to the brim by a mere 22 incher, so I got one of these babies in the mail today ^_^

33-329-057.jpg

This not only gives the monitor the height it will need to fit my space, but should also do away with the "wobbly stand" issue I've been hearing about. This stand is hefty and definitely sturdy. Gotta say I haven't been let down by Ergotron's quality yet.

Well i decided to buy this monitor after my Mitsubishi Diamondtron 2070SB 21" CRT died a few days ago. I also had Samsung 22" 2232GW LCD that was working but had a crazy pink line on the screen.

I bough the I-INC IF281D on compusa for $375(that includes 7% tax and a $100 3 year warranty)

-Turned it on and got 1 dead pixel on the upper right side (blue one) barely noticeable because of the screen size...

-Backlight bleed is BARELY noticeable at all, my samsung had some noticeable bleed

- Minimal Ghosting... I'm a gamer that likes game's running smooth & high refresh rates. I tried CSS on 1920 X 1200 60hz and i can't beleive it ran smoother and much better than my samsung, it dosent feels like your running at 60hz. You can do 75hz up to 1280 x 1240 res but i recommend giving its native resolution a try, feels good.

- Image quality is decent nothing special... looked good in games, blacks were much better than expected.

- The base on this model seems to be better than the newer models you can tilt & swivel. It's much better than my sammy's base.

I could have bough it for alot cheaper but since some people say it won't last long i decided to buy a 3 year warranty to cover that...

It finally arrived yesterday, spent a few hours after working a closing shift mounting, positioning, and moving the other monitors around.

A final shot of my tried and true setup.

A comparison shot next to my 32inch LTV32w6 Westinghouse TV.

Uh yea, this thing is BIG

Finally, the new and improved setup. My old main 22 is moved to the side, and the 19 incher moved over to where my old 17 inch was before it died on an arm next to the

Yea I know I still have to remove the screen cover, just want to keep it looking new as long as I can :D

Do you really want heat building up on both sides of the panel? Remove that silly plastic + tape ;)

Congrats and have fun with your new monitor :)

I bough my if 281d for a weekend lower price $270..(plus $90 warranty)

MY if281d was very good but had a dead pixel top right... anyways i saw a ih282 on compusa so i decided to change my monitor for it. When i was about to change monitor they said i gotta pay $70 because it's not the same model.

So i decided to change it for another 281d... ths one was even better barely any backlight bleed and no dead pixels..

I was wondering if it's worth paying the extra $70 for the newer version.. is the dynamic 15000:1 and 2 hdmi the only difference?

Honestly i like the look of the older one better and the stand is very good

Might have to get one quicker than I had planned. My current monitor is starting to act crazy on cold start ups. Oh well, at least when people ask why I need a bigger monitor I can look them in the eye and tell them because my old one is dying, instead of the canned response "Why Not!"

I am considering getting this monitor but have read the stand is not exactly the best. Could anyone recommend a more stable stand that is around $50.

Is that 22" a 16x9, the 28" looks almost square sitting next to it?

Oh, and Damn is that thing big. My 22" is starting to show some signs of failure so I am going to need to replace it soon and the Hanns-G is at the top of my list. I will also be getting a new stand for it most likey the same one you got as it is about the cheapest quality stand out there.

The one board2death986 used is an Ergotron stand which is probably the cheapest stand you can get and is also really good quality. Not sure where he got it, all I can find is the smaller version for 20" or less.

UPS just delivered mine. i've connected it to my GTX 285 FTW and it looks great. there is some backlight bleed as others have noted. this is only noticable when looking at a static black image. i don't do that too often, so i don't see it as significantly affecting the image quality.

for the price, this monitor is difficult to beat.

It isn't really square shaped but the picture does make it appear slightly so. I got the stand at Newegg and he's right, as with other Ergotron products I've owned it just reeks of quality construction and keeps the monitor plenty stable, with great adjustment options like swivel, tilt, and allows you to easily turn it into potrait orientation if you had need to.

Hrmmm Newegg is actually non-responsive ATM, but I got it there for like $50 I believe, which seemed almost wrong considering Ergotron lists retail price at $149.00, but it came in that beautiful brown box assembled and ready to rock!

Here's a link to it on Amazon

Does this monitor have scaling trouble when using a PS3? Anything I should know? Thanks.

I have an older version of this monitor, its similar to the other old one, but was sold at best buy. (different stand, one more hmdi, same spec)

I have a PS3, Computer and XBOX 360 hocked up on mine and i have no problems.

This new model seems to have a higher fail rate though.

I saw the monitor was finally back in the Costco website and pulled the trigger. It arrived yesterday and boy it's frigging HUGE! It totally dwarfed my puny 19" monitor and dominated the desktop.

As many people said, I had to turn the brightness down to 10 and will run calibration software later. It feels either everything is too dimmed or too bright. I've played some hi-res video and games (Rainbow Vegas 2) and looked wonderful. The text is not as sharp as I'd ideally prefer, but I guess it's not bad for that resolution at that size. I wish it had higher resolution at 28".

Over all, I'm very satisfied with the purchase. Can't beat the price and Costco return policy. I'll be doing 40% PC gaming, 10% development, and 50% web browsing.

I am getting closer and closer to be able to get this monitor. sucks having to wait, but I got a couple quistions.
I looked on newegg and on google for pics of the monitor and i dont see the controls anywhere, where are they?
Also there are 2 3.5mm plugs. I am sure one is for audio input, what is the other for?

On mine, (an older one), one is for VGA input (HDMI has it's own sound input), the other was for headphone out. The controls are on the right-side.

I just recently got this monitor and man, going from a 20" to a 28" was quite an upgrade. Like everyone else, the colors, mostly the brightness is not adjusted correctly. Im still trying to set the colors up right but I am currently:
20 brightness
85 contrast
Color setting: Cool

Text takes a little getting used too, but that is expected with such a large screen. Games look great, especially for the size/price ration.
