Tech Bargain of the Day

Hell with that. I prefer to get my news for free.

I bet within 3 months they'll lower the price. Who in their right mind would pay that much? Especially in this economy, the WSJ has some major cojones charging $17.99 a month.

that's funny actually since the majority of people who read the Wall Street Journal don't use gadgets like the ipad.

Tell that to my 70+ year old WSJ subscribing, WSJ Online Subscribing, Kindle Toting, Gen 1 Netbook toting mother.

Why does Mossberg (who I often disagree with) have so much pull? Why did Steve Jobs AND Bill Gates do a joint interview with him on his/WSJ's allthingsD website instead of Gizmodo or for that matter [H]ard OCP or Anandtech?

Do you realize that the typical WSJ reader makes more than the typical U.S. citizen? Apple sells upscale products. Sounds like a match made in heaven.

This is happening in the UK aswell, some "upper market" papers who think that they are better than all the rest think that they can suddenly stop showing free news on there website and start charging people for it, I personally hope they fail miserably at it.

I can understand having to pay for a newspaper due to the costs involved, but having to pay for the same thing ( but probably less ) on there website is farcial if you ask me, if one company does it and they are successful, then the rest will do it and here endeth the time of free news.

wow...who would really be stupid enough to pay 18 dollars a month for this.you think it would be cheaper but obviously not..gonna see some torrents and download links going up every week to steal the weekly newspaper at these prices xD

Guys, this isn't just the "normal" version of Wall Street Journal. When you get it on the iPad, it becomes magical. So it's almost like a two-for-one deal.

Well worth the $220 a year.

You forgot to buy the sarcasm punctuation, too. :p

I'm counting on the good folks of [H] to use their sarcast-o-meters. I would sincerely hope that no one who read my post thought I was being serious :p

I think just about everyone here knows you were being sarcastic, but I was just making a reference to this thread: Company Creates Sarcasm Punctuation Mark.
