30" Monitor Hurting My Eyes

I recently upgraded to a single 30" Apple Cinema from a pair of acer 22" screens. I am on the computer basically all the time. I have really started to notice since I upgraded to the single 30" that my vision has seemed to get worse and after awhile my eyes are just shot and I cant even look at the screen anymore. I used to have decent vision without my contacts in. Now I cant really read anything far away without them in. I really want to upgrade to two or even three 30" cinemas, but I am really concerned that I would just go blind after awhile if I was sitting there on that thing all day. How do these people use huge monitors and large amounts of monitors and not go blind?

How close are you to the screen? Try to push the monitor back a bit, it might help.

What Acer monitors did you have? The P223 series?

You went from a 2500:1 contrast ratio, and a 2-5ms response time to a 700:1 and if I remember correctly a 25ms response time. So your eyes aren't used to it yet. Did you really spend $1,800 for that 30" cinema display? Just saying, could've got a 52" incher for that...:(

Quit running at 320x240.

Seriously, turn down the brightness and make sure your ambient light is decently bright.

Are you talking about resolution or brightness?

I sit a few feet back from my 2048x1152 23" so I set display settings to medium 125%. You get to keep your native res but things get a little bigger and it looks great.

I accually had the f22 ferrari badged ones. I could go without the ferrari stuff on there, but they were pretty decent screens for the price. hdmi imputs are nice.

I spend like $1100 off ebay for the 30" cinema. It was about the same price as the 3007wfp was running at that time, so I figured what the hell.

I dont sit very close. I have a galant desk and I have the screen pushed all the way back on the desk.

I was skeptical at first, by I've had pretty good success with the "Gunnar" glasses recommended elsewhere on this forum ... (YMMV). (Available at NewEgg).
