I'm really disappointed in how hard it is to push down the middle mouse button. It's killing me on the G9x. Anyone wanna trade?

Might want to get a mod to move this to the for sale/trade forum for you. G500's is a good mouse. Good luck hope you get one.

I thought I might have better luck in here. It's a moot point though. Logitech is letting me swap my G9x for the G500. I'm okay with eating the loss.

Why would you design a mouse button this hard to press? Spend one day trying to use tabbed browsing, and you'll never make this mistake.

WTF? Its not hard to press at all.

And it's not supposed to be very easy to press. This is a gaming mouse. If you play many games, you would use the scroll to change weapons etc. Sometimes you're caught in the moment and you start applying more pressure than usual. You wouldn't want to press that button while you are trying to scroll.

Alright, I had to break out the kitchen scale to compare. The left and right buttons take less than 2 ounces to trigger. By comparison, the middle mouse button takes over 1 lb to trigger.

That's way too much for a button that gets used this often. Accidentally pressing it while scrolling? Don't have that problem on other mice.

You should be pleased with the new g500. Man that middle mouse wheel will spin like no tomorrow. You will see when you get it.

I got around that problem on my G9 by using SetPoint to make left tilt = middle click. Works great for opening tabs as the tilt wheel function takes next to no effort to activate compared to the MMB press.

I dealt with using the MMB for a while, but sometimes the effort required to press the button made me move the mouse slightly, so by the time it clicked the cursor wasn't over the link anymore (mainly when trying to click very small links like forum page #s and what not).

The G500's middle button is easier to click, but I found myself occasionally doing a left or right tilt click by accident so I mapped the middle thumb button to do a middle click. Works pretty well.

A buddy of mine and I just swapped his G9 for my G500 for a week and he couldn't stand the distance it takes for the left and right buttons to be depressed before they are recognized clicks. He is completely correct but only mad in the head because he notices it. I did notice that the middle scroll button on the G9 is rather hard to depress, though, compared to the G500.

Many other differences beyond that as well.

Hmm.. I have a G9 and never thought it was hard to press. But I'll be getting my G500 soon and will have a comparison.

I'm coming from a Razer Diamondback to the G9x, and soon to the G500. I've actually never had a problem with the Razer, and it's performed admirably, but I just have the upgrade itch. Would love to have more usable side buttons.

The G500 is legit, I completely approve. I just got mine yesterday, and it is definitely a worthy successor to the G5. The smooth scroll toggle is REALLY smooth, like someone mentioned-the wheel will spin forever. It's pretty much a flawless mouse!

Yeah played around with a buddys and man i am jealous,i hope to get one soon.

Wow, ok, I got the G500. Now this is the mouse that I was expecting! A worthy successor to my Razer, which I'm taking to the office.

There's no way you could accidentally press the middle mouse button on this, unless you're an oaf, but it's still very reasonable. I like the side buttons, and overall shape more too. The only downside is the braided cord. Really? Who thought that was a good idea...

I've owned so many damn mice...g5, g9, mamba, lachesis, mx518, mx revolution, deathadder, mx performance, g7...my favorite is the g500...with the performance MX in a close second. Come to think of it, I really should sell the performance mx
